Tulle fabric.. use spray glue like Krylon Easy Tack, or 3M Super 77, or similar spray glue.. Spray the fabric with the glue, then lay it into the body, and make sure to push it down fully to the body. Then spray black paint in there... wait for it to dry about 15 minutes. Pull the fabric back out, then spray gunmetal paint (Or if using spray cans, Pactra window tint in a couple VERY light layers, then silver). Tada, done. Fairly scale, fairly realistic looking carbon fiber.

I have a paint mask that I use. Here is what it looks like.

That there is a pretty nice paint mask.. who makes that?

I make it. I have it in various sizes. I usually just use Faskolor Fasblack and Faspearl Charcoal. They seem to be perfect. I've experimented with doing colored CF too. I've done red and blue, both look very convincing.

I had mine on my evo6 and protoform CLK-GTR:
carbon fiber
actual size is on the evo6 while the scale size is on the Mercedes... both painted metallic silver to mimic actual carbon fiber... though different colors may also be used... once i get to paint another bodyshell, i'll post it here... thanks for viewing...

I use drawer liner. You can get the rubber type with alternating holes. It has worked great for me every time so far.

Yes it is. Just a different material used. In that they used a sink screen, I use tulle. Same basic effect.
