Very nice PIMP. I like the blue with the hint of streaking in it. Your shadowing makes for a convincing 3D effect too.

Here's my first attempt. I only got the airbrush a few days ago and I'm kind of battling with it. I have a HUGE new respect for you guys, this stuff is sooooo hard! Yet strangely addictive.

Cassidy, uploaded the pic to your webspace for you so its not thumbnail sized:
[QUOTE=PIMP_9000;6171744]Take your old needle out and hook it to a dremel. Then wet sand it with 1500 grit paper, then metal polish it. It will work better then a new needle.

Yup, pretty much exactly where the majority of time spent is. Cutting and recutting pinstripe lines. I've done chrome before, but the toxicity of the paint (I'm set up in the basement with only a ventilator) coupled with the fact that it shows any error (like an area where overspray or a bleed had to be scraped clean), I rarely bother with it. Too much trouble, too little payoff. And I quite like the flake look of fascolor satin chrome.
Yeah, I know what you mean about the chrome paint being tough to work with. I wish they never made that stuff so customers wouldn't ask for it. The FASKROME looks really nice, and it's so much easier to work with.

I am a total airbrush noob, but here's my third attempt
I am really struggling with thinning my paints, trying to use fascolor, but when I thin (windex) I cant seem to get a good adhesion. I will be getting an Iwata soon.

flame56mx, That's some awesome work for only your third body! Lines look pretty clean. Keep up the good work!
Also, for your thinning problems. Try switching from Windex to regular Fantastik. It helps the paint flow much better and even helps a bit with tip drying.
And for getting the paint to stick better, most of that is all in the prep of the body. Wash the body out with some basic dish soap. Regular Dawn seems to work best. The classic blue. I use just a couple drops per body and a plain paper towel. Squirt in a few drops of the dish soap, then a little water, you don't need much to make a good soapy solution. Then go at it with the paper towel. Be sure to get every nook and tight spot. Any left over mold release will keep the paint from adhering well. Rinse it very well and wipe dry with either a paper towel or terry cloth to be sure it doesn't leave any water spots. Which won't help with the paint sticking either. After it is all dry, wipe the inside and out with a dust cloth. Not the kind that needs pledge or anything, just a plain dust attracting cloth. You can check your local department store. They can be found in the Auto section and most places have them by the rest of the home cleaning supplies. You will know it when you feel it with your hands. It likes to stick to the pores and fingerprints on the fingers. Feels like it's grabbing at it. Hard to explain, but if you can't find one let me know. Once it's all wiped down and dust free, continue as you would for any masking.
That is how I do it and almost never have any lifting or adhesion issues. Oh, and you probably have heard this one before, but use thin coats. Createx and Fascolor do not like thick coats or it can peel and lift.
