Default Introducing the Overtake RC racing tires !

Dear fellows RCer

We are glad to announce the Overtake RC racing tires range by Hedgehog Industries. We are a company located in HK and the product is made in China, but by no means that the quality is substandard, as a matter of fact we are very proud of our product being high standard ones.

Little bit about us, and why we decided to start this venture 12 months ago

The reason is simple, because we have a grand vision, and the vision is to make RC racing popular activities in our communities!! It is a great feeling to see more and more racing clubs forming around the world, and more racers are joining the race, yet sustaining drivers number is also sometime complicated. With this understanding, we would like to chip in our efforts to make this a more enjyoable task as a product manufacture. After all running a RC race track/club is not really about the money, our salute to all of you who is running a club/track!

There are three keys elements in this equation, they are, venues, drivers and channel partners. We have designed different sponsorship / business programs for all parties so that we are all working towards this common goal. In order to do so we need to understand more about the each party.

The steps are simple, just email us if you would like to receive the questionnaire (track/ club; driver; business partner) and tell us more about yourself and we can then present our proposal, since its a new program for all parties, we will have to start with a small number first, and fine tune along the way until we increase the number of programs.

So let's make racing a bigger thing!

About our product

The product is now at final production stage, and plan for commercial release in April, and would like to take this chance to give you a heads up on our innovative products (no, we cannot re-invent the wheel, but we can add innovations to it )

The Club Spec Range 1/10 Rubber Tires

After 12 months of material development, we are proud to announce the Club Spec range of 1/10 on road racing rubber tires. As club racing is the training ground for tomorrow world champions, and for racer budget to stretch further we develop this long lasting material so that one set of tires can be used for few more races.

Apart from the material, the construction of the tires also taken into the consideration, as some of the tires available on the market made the middle portion thicker, and the side (edge of the contact patch) portion thinner to allow more tires roll and hence increase grip and car roll (back in the older car, that their chassis has a thicker design). This is a great design but the down side is the edge of the contact patch will use up faster. At least this is our understanding.

With many newly release cars, the chassis is often 2mm, 2.25mm to increase flex and roll. Whit this in mind, we made our tires to have almost uniform thickness profile, so that it takes longer for the "Ring of death" to appear. (Ring of death means the edge of the contact patch worn our much more than the center). Of course many other factors contribute to this situation.

Our Wheels - Hexaload Wheels

There is nothing worse than having a broken wheel when a prefect tires is glued on it, with that in mind we come up with the Hexaload wheels.

The patent pending design of the Hexaload wheels offer a hexagon shape rib and it is made of top grade nylon material. Nylon material offer a flexible property, and wheels made of nylon will not break easily, yet the down side is when it deform too hard it will not return to its original shape. Some commercially available nylon wheels are made too soft, which will decrease steering response; it may be undesirable in certain situation.

With our Hexaload design, it offers the best of both world, whenever an impact has occurs, because of the hexagon structure the force is spread out more evenly. When get your hands on one of these, we urge you to squeeze it in different directions, you will see how it will bounced back to the round shape.

In our testing it shows if it is clamped with a vise for a while, it will not bounce back 100%, yet if you just put in between the door and the door frame, and slam on it, most of the time it will bounce back to its shape.

Another feature we added on face of the wheel, we made two dots on the face of the wheel, the idea is to allow us to use it to the turn the wheels with our finger tip, usually when your wheel wench is not handy, and the tires is cover with tires juice.

The Insert - The patent pending design of the Anti Overheat (AO) inserts.

Unlike real car tires, RC rubber tires rely on foam inserts to retain its shape, the rebound property and its lightness fit this requirement perfectly. During our tires development, especially on hot outdoor asphalt track, even with a very high temperature compound, it will still overheat when run long enough, to prevent this to happen, we have to make bigger holes at the wheels, but it will also weaken the structure of the wheels, and sometime debris will trap inside the tires.

The root of the problem is that the insert itself also act as a thermal insulator, and heat exchange with outside air is reduced. With this understanding, we now place air vent holes strategically on the insert to allow a more efficient heat exchange between the tires surface and the ambient temperature, the result is excellent that with the same hole size at the wheels, it take much longer for the tires to overheat.

I hope you like what you just read, we shall have more pictures and details of our product on our upcoming web site, which plan to launch in the mid of March.

Meanwhile we would love to hear from you, whether you are a Club/Track owner, RC racers, commercial partners or someone just like us, addicted to RC!

Let's make RC racing a bigger thing!!

P.S since we may be at a different time zone from wherever you may be, please bare with us if we did not response right away.

Dear ARrckidd

Thank you for looking at our post, how did you know about it

It is only natural for us to have that product range, but it is still in early stage, as off road tires development require much more effort, as we not only need to look at compound, but also the tread patterns.

But frankly the road map of off road tires, still a long way away, current estimate is towards end to year, just to be honest.

Cheers

Dear TeamCarnage

Although we have started our foam tires development some months ago, but we are still not happy with what we got.

Our plan is to have our rubber product established first (including off road) than we will be at full swing for foam (1/10, 1/8)

We have chosen the hard way to make our own, but it will be our very own!!

Cheers

Default New belt binding method

Dear all

We must first apologize that we did not meet up our release schedule, as we were not 100% happy with the belt binding method using glue.

The time we lost was well spent, as we came up with a new belt, and new way to bind the belt, with this method, we can ditch the glue all together. Yet the bond is much stronger than any other glue we tested.

This new method we can almost get rid of the flat spot on the tires too, especially towards the end of life. As the binding area is much smaller.

The mass production will start next week!! Finally!!

Cheers

Sorry for the late reply, it should have been ready 1 week ago, but when we did our final test, we still have some issues with the new belt, so we are now reverting to cloth belt, we are now testing new glue to make it more secure.

Sorry that we are late, but we don't want to be sorry on our product quality.

Cheers
