tuning
The beautiful thing of gas vs nitro. Yes you still have to tune them but not nearly as much. You have to richen them up a bit. I don't really use a temp gun for tunning as much as sound and power band. If your comfortable with tuning i would richen till it blubbers and then back off.
First i would write down your settings so that if you get to far off you can go back to where you started.
DO this by counting your turns in on your low and high till they stop. Then Back out from there to where you were and adjust accordingly.
Hope that helps.

Its gonna be both
I am from the world of atv and dirt bikes. Where we adjust both pilot and main
which equals low and high. the low should be in the quick blurp,(if that make sense) and the high speed is for 1/2 speed on up. It depends how cold your planning on running. Mostly its the high speed on this small of a carb.
I would start with the high speed, if you feel like there is a lag on the bottom i would adjust from there. also if the motor revs weird and high at idle it typically means your lean.
And were talking a 1/8th to a 1/2 a turn. shouldn't be more than that,
I am running a turtle racing aluminum air filter bracket that uses a hpi filter on my losi 2wd conversion and still trying to tune it.
R u running stock filter? Do you know appropriate ways of oiling filter. (greasing the front side of the filter so no air leaks) SOme of those things affect tune also.

Fuel plays a big part in tuning... I know here in ny they actually change the fuel in the winter...
#7
Winter mix has more butane in it and burns faster...
#8
Cold also makes the the plastic parts a lot more brittle.

I think once its cold its just time to put it away and call it a year, I see skis and all that, but 10 min of fun turns into an expensive bill.

tuning
Here is a pic of the gas i run. If I use regular pump gas it gets gummy in smaller regular carburator in a few weeks. I don't have any issue keeping a tune with this fuel. U want to make sure the pump doesnt share a spicket with the other fuels or when you only buy a gallon at a time you will mostly be getting what the last person bought.
I looked into the butane thing. Looks like there is some science involved.
Winter is awesome, don't put them away, stud them and run them. We plow of the ponds and then put roller jumps out there. We have 150 studs screwed in and then nut the back side. Let em rip!
