Default What 1/5th scale to buy??

I'm looking to get a 1/5th scale offroad roller and wondering what you guys recommend without blowing the budget?

I have been contemplating a Baja as they have been around for a while and my LHS stocks them... But Are there any other 5th scale off roaders I should be looking at?

Is it worth upgrading from the stock motor or are there mods I can do to it?

Cheers Anthony

Check out the Losi 5ive-T.

Add a tuned pipe.

unfortunately for him that most likely is blowing the budget as the 5ive-T isn't cheap even though its a great vehicle.

If you are going super ultra budget, a used HPI baja would be a good choice.

Depending on the upgrades on it, A redcat Rampage TT or XB can be found cheap used and with the right upgrades can work well. This is coming from people I asked who have Rampage 1/5s and top of the line 1/5s like MCD for example.

I've found bajas for as low as 475 for a almost ready to run just minus controller.

The losi 5ive is well worth the money, its a Freakin beast and is second to none in the market right now.

Also you can contact bartolone racing out of Anaheim Ca.

He builds full custom motors,MODS your existing motor or sells stock motors.

But I say call Chris because as far as motors are concerned he is one of the OGs of these motors from the hard core go ped days he has been building crazy HP motors and he doesn't mind chattin and giving you some info on these motors and what you may want to fo with it for your application.

I have had him build me 2 full custom motors and both are crazy fast and lots of torque

Here's my baja 5b with a bartolone racing 29.5 full mod +1mm stroker crank with the bartolone racing bolt on cylinder reed which requires extra intake porting.

That's at the Oregon coast with paddles pulling 1/2-3/4 throttle because I'm still under a gallon on break in.
