the new x from traxxas
#272

What exactly has traxxas stirred up? The same thing that gt racing has for the last few years? Has anyone touting this car actually looked into gt8?....which ironically is a world wide race class, that this car will be excluded from because of the wheel base change from the slash it came from?
While I do enjoy the GT8 cars, the stubby short wheel base 225 mm is something I have never liked... the bodies look like caricatures of real GT cars. The longer IGT2 chassis 260 mm address this, although the shorter wheel base seems to dominate and handle better.
I've never owned a Traxxas product, I am a Tamiya fan, In any case, I still welcome this car. I see it as a purpose built chassis for a GT class instead of a converted buggy. Maybe this cars existence will bring other manufacturers into the GT forum, much the same way the SCT did.

Everyone thats been preordering these please hang on. Traxxas is saying they are available now and they are NOT. distributor warehouses are still NOT showing these vehicles in stock. No one has these available for shipping yet. We are still being told January 30th.

Local hobby shop got them in last night actually. They got 8 or so of them. Xtreme Hobbies in Deer Park.
I've had mine on order since the day it was announced pretty much. The car is really amazing. I've seen the ofna and other cars in person too but this thing is just so damn cool!
About to go knock down a 100mph pass woop woop!!

Wow I would raise hell Rick I know a few places in NY have them. That could be a problem with your area rep for Traxxas!!!
On another note I broke it already haha! Was trying to top it out and at about 50mph I goosed the throttle and she spun up. Nosed a curb but slowed down alot....... broke the sweet canard front bumper, going to need a new one of those. And cracked the front clip/chassis. Easy fixes, nothing major, but parts arent available yet so yea, def sucks but expected!
I'm starting to realize how much space I'm going to really need for this thing. My spot is a highway and VERY open and long, straight, and clean and doable. But might not be quite wide enough. Shit happens fast at 100mph haha
Going to order some aluminum parts for this puppy. The A-arms are the same as a slash or stampede.

Overall I'm happy with it, its fun. The motor has a TON of torque, you can just feel and hear it in the car. The remote is pretty trick but I'm having issues with it syncing up properly. I have to reload the traxxas app in the ipod or power off/on the remote control.
casualties so far is a wrecked front lip with canards, slightly cracked chassis (crazy glue fixed that though!!!!), rolled the car a few times and scratched the shit out of the body... and I stripped the cush-drive gear. Screwed up the gear mesh when I replaced the pinion SOB. It includes extra gears for the cushs drive so not that big of a deal.
Glad I got it just before the snow!!!

So it is slash suspension.....good I want a set of the 17mm purpose built uprights for my gt8, and that front bumper holder....it should all bolt right up
