Here we go with this years World Finals held at LiteSpeed Raceway in San Antonio for the third year in a row. This year we had a pair of Aussies join us for our little gathering. They are a quick pair these two. With world record pace out of their r/c dragsters. The rain added to the drama as Kip and crew had to dry the track a few times and clean up after what looked like a hurricane went through the place Sat night. But by 1pm or so everything was ready. Unfortunately the director of the IMDRA decided he wanted to go home so he called the race. Through the generous pockets of some of the locals and manufacturers a fairly large cash purse was raised and the race continued as a Cash Dash race. Plenty of action even though some of the long distance racers decided to head on home. Anyways here is some video of the proceedings Saturday. Qualifying day.

Here is the video from Sunday's tapes. More speed speed speed and some very nice cars. The official race was called due to weather The track crew had worked since 5am to get the place in shape after a major storm wrecked everything the night before. Everything was wet and it took several hours to get the timing system dried out and functional. Donations came in from several people and it turned into a Dash for Cash race on Sunday. The IMDRA is up for sale so I guess the guy got tired of the rain or something. Not something I'd do especially with people here to race all the way from Australia. Sunday was a little humid but other than that a perfect race day. Typical politics in R/C. Don't know if we'll host the big race next year. Or what will happen frankly. I'm sure I'll find some drag racing to shoot though. I've seen these things happen before.
