RC Drag Racing Info
 
Does anyone know if there is a sanctioning body for Radio Control Drag Racing? I'm looking for rules, track dimensions, track locations, etc. any info would be appreciated. thanx :)

Im not too sure but IEDA rings a bell.

EDit- Yes, IEDA is a Drag racing assoc.

Heres some off the NRCDA site, these guys drag race nitro in dallas Tx. www.nrcda.com

Track Specifications:

A. The total track distance should be a minimum of 240 feet.
B. The immediate track distance must be 132 feet.
C. A total of two lanes at a minimum of 10 feet wide each, maximum 15 feet wide each.

D. For safety purposes, a retaining wall must be in place with a minimum of 3 inches on each outside lane extending from the starting line to the finish line. (It can be made out of foam, PVC, wood or concrete)

E. The return lane must be a minimum of 10 feet wide.

Track surface: The surface must be a "practically" level surface made of smooth concrete or asphalt.

Traction: The track surface must be treated with a mixture of 3 gallons of VHT to ½ gallon of denatured alcohol ( a total minimum of 6 gallons).

Timing System: A Porta Tree or Race America 1/10 scale drag racing timing system required.

Pit Area: The designated racer pit area must be a minimum of 20 feet from the track.

Procedures:

A. Must meet all NRCDA track requirements.
B. Must enforce all NRCDA track rules and car class specifications
C. Must use NRCDA approved race ladders
D. Club or track must supply the following personnel:

1) Announcer or PA system.

2) Track maintenance and record keeping personnel.

3) Track marshal and designated car tech personnel.

4) Track must have a portable or permanent restroom.

5) If the track conducts a radio impound, the area must be secured and covered.

6) Radio frequency indicators must be available for use by all racers and this policy must be enforced at all times.

Use of Premises: The club/track must possess written documentation from the owner(s) or representatives of the land/property/parking lot giving permission to use their premises for the purpose of RC drag racing. In addition, club/track must also obtain some form of liability insurance with a minimum of $500,000 in coverage.

Advertising:

A. The NRCDA agrees to promote the event regionally through its website and/or other media advertising.
B. The club/track agrees to contact local media (newspaper, radio, and local TV stations) for their local coverage.

Membership/Event fees:

A. All racers competing in a NRCDA sanctioned event must either:

1) Be a current NRCDA member which is $20.00 per year paid directly to the NRCDA, or

2) Posses a NRCDA race pass which is $10.00 per National paid directly to the NRCDA. This allows those racers who do not want to be a NRCDA member, to participate in a National.

B. All racers must pay a registration fee directly to the club/track or the NRCDA to participate in a National. The fee is $30.00 for one car class and $10.00 each additional class. A $5.00 late fee is assessed by the club/track for racers who do not pre-register for the event.

Track Dues:

A. The sanctioned club/track will be required to pay a yearly sanctioning fee in the amount of $50.00 to the NRCDA and its representatives.

B. The sanctioned club/track holding a National event agrees to pay 10% of the total entry fees collected to the NRCDA. In the event that the racers pre-register for the event online using the NRCDA website, the NRCDA will pay the total entry fees collected to the sanctioned club/track minus any applicable credit card fees for processing the online charges.

C. The sanctioned club/track records a list of all racers and classes which will be turned over to the NRCDA at the end of the event’s activities.

D. In the event the NRCDA supplies all equipment and runs the event for the sanctioned club/track all fees collected will go directly to the NRCDA. The NRCDA will pay 10% of the total entry fees to the sanctioned club/track.

Trophies

The club/track is required to present a minimum of one first place trophy for each class participating (per trophy value a minimum of 25.00). For details of the trophy script, please contact the NRCDA Director (Marvin Jackson).

are the rules the same for electric classes?

another good association is the IEDA, they run nitro and electric classes.
