Questions?? What happened to the HPI Baja ?

What's going on with the HPI Baja 5b / SS / kits ? ... You can't buy the kits or preassembled, not even the clear bodies..... I've got mine sitting here still new, but I don't want to destroy it if I can't get a new one, I can't even buy a clear body to paint. ... What's going on with the Baja'ss ?

AMain still shows parts available. Haven’t seen anything about it being discontinued. It’s been a slow process for Hpi since new owners took over.

I don't think I have seen anything available for at least a year.... I can't even get a clear body to paint... I just emailed HPI racing from their website, I don't know if they will answer but it sure should be interesting.

I love the Baja, even building them is fun....
What a shame if this is the end of them.

AMain has clear bodies

Agree it would be shame if it was discontinued.

yep... i see that. Unfortunately I just purchased one off of eBay, I'm not sure it's a HPI body though... I am interested in the kits though. The kit isn't available apparently..

I'm guessing the blip in supply over the last couple years is HPI went under for a while and not long came back. At least that's what I believe.

It was a pretty cool rig but once Losi came out with their Truck and then later their buggy, everyone just gravitated to that rig. It's very rare to see anyone run those these days.

They show it on their website... I like building them on the winter months... I have a new one sitting in front of me... Wouldn't mind buying a second one though.

There are lots of bodies out there in stock as well as everything else even though HPI went through problems. King/Rovan sells a lot of stuff that fits the 5B. Here are a few sites:

I hope it is not the demise of such a great buggy. Here is a statement I found on one of the online hobby shops in europe.

According to HPI is a renewed production and thus production of the Baja 5B SS planned.

However, it is to be feared that even then there will only be a small number of units.
We have pre-ordered and also offer the possibility of pre-ordering with a 100 EUR deposit.

Unfortunately, we don't know today what the selling price of the HPI-Baja 5B SS will be; but like in the past it will certainly be over 1,000 EUR.

Please only pay the amount of 100 EUR, which will be deducted from the total amount when the car will be delivered. As soon as we receive the definite delivery date, we will inform you immediately.

The HPI/KM/Rovan buggy and truck are alive and well. There are a ton of very active facebook pages for them. Parts are everywhere and easy to find. Lots of people are running the 5B chassis. There is a sizable group here in DFW with a new off road track being built. All brands of the 5B are outstanding. We run them all.

Genuine HPI parts and buggies are getting hard to find.
