Default My Losi 5iveB Elcetric Build

Hi guys, thought I would show off my 5iveB purpose built electric build, not a conversion as such if you know what I mean

Castle XLX 800kv combo with custom XLX alloy mount
2x Hitec D840 steering servos, Losi S900S brake seervo
Spektrum DX5R tx and 6000T rx
RC Madness BL5 V2 brushless conversion
Ice Racing front and rear diff housings
Rovan alloy diff cases
FLM "forever" diff cups all round
GTB front spindles and rear hubs
Losi front C-hubs, chassis braces, top plate and servo mount
Rovan centre diff mount
Losi 5iveT Flo rims with Nomad tyres
MCD RR5 bodyshell

All the aluminium upgrades only add a total of 551 grams to the weight of the base stock kit, plus an extra 61 grams for the XLX mount.

Total weight is just over 14kgs with 2x 4S lipos (31lbs)

Those pictures were taken while I left the loctite on the motor to cure overnight, and unfortunately when I went to take it for it's maiden run it didn't go, the motor just badly cogged and didn't even turn

Anyway I sent the ESC and motor back, turns out the motor was faulty and Castle is sending a new one. It should be here early next week

I've also trimmed 10mm off the rear body mounts to lower the body further, it was only just above the side guards at the rear.

I'm also running all the electrics off a Turnigy NanoTech 2S 3000mah lipo, giving me 60amp BEC. The XLX only has 20amp BEC, the 2 steering servos alone have a stall current of 20amp, so it was a no brainer really. I ran the balance plug for charging, and the Castle Quick Connect out the side of the battery box

31lbs sounds pretty light. What's your runtimes?

Also what's the reasoning behind the aluminum diff housings? Just like aluminum?

I haven't had the chance to run it yet, I won't get the motor back from Castle until next week. I'll be using my GensAce 5000mah 40/80C to start off with and see how they go
I used alloy diff housings for the bling, just to build the ultimate 5iveB
The front one is only 50g heavier than stock, and the rear is 91g heavier

Looks really beautiful!! I had thought about doing this also with the reduced cost in the 5iveB kit but went with the DBXL-E which I see you also have in the background. Let us know how they compare to each other!! Killer build very clean!

The cab forward one I have is 500102P
The standard body is 500101P

I agree the stock one is bulky, I was going to get the Grafil G-Forza, but it has the indent for the motor cut out. I just took a gamble after eyeing up dozens of pictures of the RR5 and thought "that'll fit" and it does perfectly....it's about 10mm wider where it meets the side guards.

It's thin polycarb though, but I've run duct tape all over the inside. Main thing is it has no holes cut-out. It also comes with stickers for the windows, body clips, and the body clip retainers - which are meant to go in the holes for the body posts, and the posts go through them - I worked that out after the fact

Yeah will do. I get 9-10mins run time with my DBXLe using the GensAce lipos I'll be using with this, so it will be a good comparison between the two. I don't think I'll be getting as long a run time with this

can you post a pic of the underside of the body, just ordered mine. Did you use gorilla tape? Did you have to do any excess trimming? Can't wait to get mine. Thanks

I'll get a picture up later, I'm still half asleep. It's only 5am here, but yeah I used cloth tape which is probably the same as gorilla tape

Its funny, the shipping on the body costs more than the body itself, anyone know a place that has one in stock thats not over a 100 shipped to the US?
