What are these things, Ive never heard or seen them before. Are they plastic, or what are they made out of?

some are plastic others metal they are ment to play with on a board against another person with there own army. i really only bought them because they looked cool back in the 8th grade almost 5 years ago. they come all in pieces and you have to build them then paint them(this is already done).
