Rody VS Racing Engines - Onroad Motors

whats sad is that tracks are still running 5 min quails, this is what helped kill nitro on road and y 90% of the tracks have gone to the 4,6 or 7 min quails. just look what u wrote in 2 days of testing if I was a newbee wanting to get into onroad that would scare the shit out of me... for many reason u would think u have to go test like u did or spend a fortune!! bad enuff nitro is a dying breed here in the usa posts like this font help.. sorry john I don't like posting like this but in my opinion does it make any sense to buy a motor and have to detune it? if I went to chevy and bought a corvette would I like if they put restrictors to slow me down? mostly all other tracks have gotten away from the 5 min quail and we all should !!! now u get into the hobby which is costly enuff and u have to spend all this other money to make run time change this change that have multiple fuels one for quail one for main to make more power, really you guys in the mid west should be changing the quail times also really its not helping nitro onroad plus a 7 min or 6 is a lot more fun guys love having to make a pit stop it creates more action. also the cheating factor there are so many guys cheating to make 5 min its crazy u may not be aware of it but the shit I know and from people u would never believe it!! there are so many other aspects to worry about when racing like setup, tire choice and so on this should not be a worry. most guys also don't have access to a track near them to test stuff so when they come to a race there time is limited they shouldn't have to worry bout this we all love speed!!!! let these bad boys fly we should be testing how to make faster!!!
We are sharing here information and experiences on how to use or exploit in the best way the VS Racing engines.
Rich and Team Empire are doing a great job sharing their experiences in a positive way and this is what you need to race and finish. I think since they have started racing a lot more racers have showed up again so this means 1/8 on-road racing is not dead yet...

Cannot see the goal of your post here other then complaining about rules, costs and others cheating...

There is a topic where you can discuss the future of this hobby.
http://www.rctech.net/forum/racing-f...ing-hobby.html
Athough I still think the 5min qualify is more a tactic play of how to get it with or without a fuel stop. I wonder if Rody is going along with the current 4min qualify, if he and other engine builders/modders can/will/shall make a 4min milage motor for more power.

In my opinion it will be only a matter of time that the 4Min qualifiers will not be enough, wait and see.
I personally will always try not to go in this direction on making a specific engine for more power, it will only involve more work on the engines and so price can be affected.
Also running a different type of engine during qualifiers and after in the final you will be in trouble because the driving is different when the power is different. Then the life of a more powerful engine will be shorter and less reliable. To many factors which are changing and will result in DNF
Today's engines do not need a lot of work to perform well just using the right fuel, correct glowplug, tuned pipe correct clutch setting and carburetor tune. With this you can go a long way on the engine side.

I know, the Ielasi tuned are extreme modified engines with (for Novarossi) extreme timings and a very good performance on the track. With the right driving 5 minutes is still possible. I have your first model OS (with the Tecnopower head/carb) in the box waiting to be fired up, it is already broken in in an oil bath system and I still need to meassure the timings for my list.
But in the time of the 7 minute qualify I have seen 3:45 engines and they were fast.
Indeed changing the power plant can result in a different driving but on the other hand if you have a good car with a qualify engine it should drive more stable with a tiny bit milder engine.

The VSR01 has the same timing as the OS2101, what makes the difference are the combustion chamber and the extreme light cooling-head and billet carburetor.
I had to stop the production of the carburetors because the qty's are not enough to reproduce at a reasonable price.
Let me know your findings after you have tested the engine, always nice to hear your comments.

not complaining u guys just answered all that I posted !! do u see what your posting about different motors for quails and mains and makes u drive different and so on, that's my whole point !! u would scare away a neebee after reading that now he thinks has to buy 2 motors one to make 5 min and one for mains and if u need 2 different ones then u need a back up for each so that's 4 motors, and most tracks are getting away from 5 min they are doing 4 or 7 whats the reason to make these motors or modify them if u have to detune them. I controlled the track in Floyd Bennett field here in ny we lost the land 2 years ago we don't have any tracks left in the northeast nitro is dead. I'm currently in talks with a huge facility in nj private place to build the largest and best facility in the usa I'm trying more then anyone to revive nitro here in the northeast which is a huge benefit to rc company's to have racing here again. but my format will be 7 min which will be more appealing to the newbee that I will be going after to rebuld nitro racing .

Any type of racing takes effort, requires strategy and costs money. I enjoy 1/8th because of the potential of the cars and motors combined with skills required to be consistently fast within whatever rules are set for the event we attend.
I have been out of racing for 10 years. The cost to race has dropped dramatically. Motors are MUCH less expensive, cars cost less and are extremely durable, require less hand massaging to make work and the tires have dropped in cost as well.
As for attendance - in Northern California (where we race) four months ago, when we started racing, there was NO 1/8th racing. Now, there are at least 15 racers who have bought cars and are racing again. I am confident if we continue racing that 1/8th scale will continue to grow. Why? Because we help other racers: we help them tune their motors, show them how to setup cars, share information, promote race events and they get to race against Scott. We help racers and we love racing. We don't complain, we are first at the track to help with setup and most important WE HAVE FUN. Can Northern California, once again, have 50 plus 1/8th racers? I know we can. All it requires is a catalyst. Our catalyst is the love of 1/8th racing and the joy we get from racing and HELPING the race community.
Rody creates a superior product and is a fantastic supporter of racing - this thread is about VS motors. Let's keep the subjects on track.

Come out to WSR this weekend, Saturday. We're having a lot of fun!! Relaxed program - practice, 2 rounds of qualifying and a mini-main. Lot's of old faces and a few new ones.
(thanks for the compliment)

We continued to compare pipes and headers, but, so far for 4 minutes runs, the 1070SC for 1/0th and the 2080SC for 1/8th have shown superior punch and top end against the other tested combos.
We have a fast 4 minute program and are now working on a 5 minute package.
We are still using a fuel that has 11% oil and will compare it against the same brands 9% package in our next outing. At the end of today I helped another Team mate break in his Rody VS 21 and it's gonna be a monster. I love it when you break in a motor and it settles in perfectly. He's gonna be a happy camper when we go to the Race in Oregon - only a few weeks away. That's all for now - I'll be posting more as we progress.

Hi Rody. Do you supply any motor for Roar Legal 1/8 GT?
#74

GT not VS branded because I have limited resources. I have however an OS modified version available for any who is interested.

Hey Rody,
I was looking at your VS Racing 2102R Competition On-Road Engine on Amain hobbies and it states *1/8 scale on-road racing and is recommended for "EXPERIENCED" users*
Is your motors hard to break in or tune ? Again am asking this because I am seeking a new motor but limited on my experience with them.
