What comes with an engine
 

I was planning to get a new engine for next season, and keep this seasons as a backup. I was wondering though - what clutch/flywheel parts come with a new engine? If I leave the clutch assembled on the old engine, obviously Ill need the flywheel, shoes, clutchbell, etc, but what about the flywheel collet? Does oen come with the engine, and is it better to use that or the car manufacturer's? Also the screw that goes in the end of the shaft -is that a car manufacturer part or an engine part?

In my experience, the only thing that comes with a new motor is a glow plug and instructions - since most cars use different flywheels and clutches you need to buy a separate set up.

I have 4 cars and 6 motors - they all have motor mounts, flywheels, gears and pipes already installed to just drop a motor in the chassis and hook up the throttle and fuel lines and go play.

I wouldn't transfer back and forth - it weakens screws and is a hassle

I believe most engines come with a collet, it may or may not fit the flywheel to your car's clutch. To save money, I use the same clutch on 2 different engines, with 2 diffent flywheels already tightened down with a flywheel nut. All that is left is to transfer the clutch assembly and check gaps and enplay. Your clutch may require shim behind the collet as well, just make sure they match.

My biggest concern is getting the right screw to go in the end of the crankshaft to hold the whole clutch assembly on. Im hoping this comes with the engine, as it would probably be engine specific?

they usually do, but i always put the one on that comes with the clutch... sometimes they vary in length... the screw is a very common type, so should be easy to match..
