Thumbs down Engine commits suicide...

Hey all...

Has anyone of you ever break one of the balls in a ball bearing?
Well... today a friend of mine had the following happen to his engine: We were driving around a bit on a wet track, practicing car control in typical dutch weather. After a few laps his engine (a MaxPower 312, quite a nice engine actually) started making an awful sound and stalled a few seconds later. The piston was completely jammed so we opened up the engine to investigate. It turned out that one of the balls in the engine's main bearing had split and lost a part. This part flushed along with the fuel into the ignition chamber and completely devastated it...

Here are some photos:

That is some nice damage, never had that happen, that's the first time I've seen it like that.

The guy is telling a story of how his buddies engine blew up and your making comments on the pictures! That's great!

"Hey man.... I just got hit by a car!"

"Awww, sweet!! That's a cool cast!!"

The guy was just sharing his story and included some really great pictures. Have you ever tried close shots like those with a digital camera? Really difficult to do.

That's a bummer about the engine, but I just gotta ask, what kinda camera did you take those pictures with?

Yes...it's why they developed the macro feature on digital camera's. If you have one it probably comes with it.

Sorry about the engine man, that's really too bad.
