Unfair to compare a full factory modified Picco up against a box stock Nova.....Max Power TQ'd, Orcan won it, are we classing these as tuned Nova's :tire: Yes the orcan and max power are tuned novas but not the latest versions. They are based on pre virtus/keep on engines which goes to prove what I'm saying about the later novas aren't as good as 2 evolutions ago. |
The best novas were the blue head 353 tuned

I've only run Picco's P-0 engines, but they are tiny works of art. I'd have no hesitation buying one of their larger engines, I just wish they offered pullstart or roto-start backplates.

Not everyone is a pro, easy tuning and consistent performance is always welcomed (nova). For those more advanced , you know all the power and speed is in the clutch and gearing. Best advice I can give is to buy a few of the same engine ,learn that engine and stay with it . In turn you will know what the engine likes and what it's limitations are. Good luck. Go nova!

Ive been reading the thread and i find it very interesting so i thought id comment .
First just so you know who i am i was the person who designed the first plus4 off road engine for nova as a gift to the them team manager federico barchi to bring them back to the top of off road after a huge domination by os engines but what im reading is rediculous a product is as good as the person behind it including the user. when the posts state that Picco is better than Nova it kind of makes me laugh not saying picco is a bad engine but to compare with nova it has a very long way to go before you can compare. Nova's material technology which dates back to 1/2 a century in research and development no one has ever been able to substitute the quality of material many have tried and all have failed. The Ifmar worlds 1/8th on Japan did you know the winner was running novarossi carbies just to make them run the same at last years 1/10th worlds the same . Nova was and still is the benchmark of what is being designed today .The factory produces most oem motors on the world market today would these big brands like Maxpower risk their reputations on engines that didnt work ? I dont think so. Conclusion like i said before in my statement many brands and manufacturers have a long way to go before they can even touch novarossi not only in technology but also quality and performance .I'm a true believer that a brand of engine should run and perform at its maximum without the use of another brands parts but its own. |
This is interesting....

- the whole engine? - metal choice? - combustion chamber? - timings? Do not get me wrong but if someone says he is the designer I do read he has develloped the complete engine. So did you or did you do some modifications to an existing engine? |

So have you heard anything about the mito .12? I like to get your opinion on the picco .12 if you no about them.

The 1/8th worlds yes they were running the Novarossi carb as it has an aluminium body which was needed in the heat there. Picco developed their own alu carb later on and was released on the WC version of that engine. The OS engines were the ones using the Novarossi carb on the Spec 3 and R1201 engines at the worlds last year. NOT PICCO! The max power.12 engines are based on a few generations old novarossi engines. I believe it is the 353 and not the latest generation keep on or virtus as these are not novarossi's finest moment. I ran novarossi for years but the last generation engines were no where near as good as the ones that went before. Likewise the older Picco's were not particularly brilliant whereas the latest generation engines are fantastic and much improved. I've run both back to back and I can tell you in my recent experience the Picco's are currently superior however I can't compare against the Mito series. I hope they are better! |

I'd have to disagree with you reference using the Novarossi carb on the 1/10 engine at the worlds last year. I was there using the Picco engines and the entire Picco team (Sahashi bro mainly) were running the stock Picco carb. For the first few days I was running novarossi keep on and virtus and although the engines were ok neither would do more than 4:45 in that traction and heat without running ridiculously lean and hot. Of course the team drivers don't care about that! The Picco first time in the car and without a decent running in period ran consistently as quickly at a sensible temperature AND would do 5:30 on a tank.

Please can you help them design an on road .21 engine as they are really battling to make run time, also look into the splitting of the 9 port sleeves. What is your plan to reduce the 2 gallon break in on some of the engines? Also you must be well on your way with a new plug now. Keep us posted!! |
Maybe Nova drivers need to bolt Picco and OS engines to their carbs??
