Default NovaRossi .21 Race 2012

I received with a circuit car I purchased recently a fitted used Novarossi which I cannot find any information on ?, so looking with help about specs please.

The Purple annodised head is laser marked with the words Novarossi, 2012, Race.
On one side of the crankcase it has the "Nova 21" emblem and on the other side "Plus 2"

I haven't stripped the motor so have no idea whether its a 7 or 9 port ?

I've tried the Novarossi website but there is nothing listed under current or discontinued motors? maybe it was a special edition ?
Any help appreciated as id like to identify exactly which model it is in the range for obtaining replacement spares.
Cheers

Need a picture of the head please. It may be a 35plus21 but those engines had 35Plus21 on the head. Most of the Novarossi plus 2 series shared fairly common parts. If you can post a picture of the head that would help a lot.

Plus2 is something like a 359. It was delivered in a package with a practise engine.

The 359 had a blue head if I'm not mistaken? It was part of the Plus 2 era but I'm sure had a blue head...

OP we need a photo of the engine to be able to better assist here...

These are images of both sides of the crankcase. you can just make out Nova 21 and Plus 2 on the other side.

Looking at this to me it seems like it's not the original head. The carb and engine mount shape screams 359 to me but the head is wrong. An easy way to tell if it's a 359 is the size of the crankshaft pin. It's smaller than all the other nova .21's and has P1 etch on the rod instead of R1.

Not sure you are right about the head ? Don't forget the crankcase is stamped Plus 2 So I can understand if its part of the two pack engines, but would this be the practice engine in the pack ? Just taken the backplate off and as can be seen from the image its a P3 conrod. So even more puzzling perhaps ?

P3 rod means it's a 359. Not the most reliable motor Nova ever made but pretty quick.

Mainly rods and crankpin. I never had any issues with mine but others did. Maybe because I tend to run extra castor in my fuel. I always loved how it ran.

Smaller crankpin means less rotation speed giving a better lubrication but the smaller pin does also give more cinter pressure causing rods to split or shattered bushings.

I had 3 359's and all failed at the crank pin. Especially quickly on bumpy tracks - in the uk like Brooklands. I lost 2 359's there on one day. Some people 'fixed' the problem by fitting a flash crankshaft and R1 rod. This was the predecessor to the early flash engines and so the rest of the engine is compatible with the flash.

Ah OK so as a precaution then its better to change the rod earlier? I may well get a new rod now as I have no idea how much running this engine had in the past. But thanks guys for ID ing it and for the info as its better to be fore warned
