Stuck sleeve....tricks???
 

I have an engine with approx 6 gal through it. Time for a rebuild. Im trying to get the sleeve out, but the piston is so loose in the sleeve, that alone wont help remove the sleeve. I also tried the zip tie through the exhaust port trick and heating the engine up in an oven for 20 minutes...no dice. Anyone with other ideas I can try??? Thanks :)

are you replacing the piston/rod too? If so, I have used two methods, one being that the zip tie didn't work, I used a couple of flat washers on the top of the piston, wedged into the ports. The other one, I used a large tap one time and threaded the sleeve.

I was gonna try to pinch the sleeve, and try to make it last the last few weeks of the outdoor season. I guess all in all it doesn't matter. I will see if I can do the washer trick.

Well...I decided "F" it...and decided to buy a a new P/S so it didn't matter if I damaged the old one while trying to take it out. I did get it out, but my problem now is that I also gouged the crank case. I will post a pic later...the gouge runs from the bottom all the way to the top of the sleeve area. While there are ports, they would be lower in the engine than where the scratch is.Basically, the top half of the sleeve where there aren't any ports would cover it up once it is installed. Question is...even given that it will be covered...have I just killed the engine?
