By first glance the XRD F12HT looks very similar, if not identical to the IDM .12 T3T (2013 line)

IDM 2013 engines are produced by LM S.r.l – Star Motor Engineering (Source: RedRC)

Capricorn America is pleased to announce that due to the overwhelming results of its line of XRD engines, in an effort to silence the rumors of racers having special product and to show all the engines used by our team are off the shelf material. Effective today all engines used by Capricorn America Team on any race can be purchased at the end of such event. This include engines used by XRD factory team drivers coming to the Americas to compete which is the case of Dario Balestri for the 2014 Winternats.

•Engine and pipe combo will be sold at www.capamericarc.com retail price plus a break in fee of $50 for a .12 and $75 for a .21
•Only cash will be accepted as a payment method
•Person who commits to buy the engine also gives Capricorn America all the rights to advertise such event.

I am running the XRD brand and this is the first weekend I got to run the motors for a race. I ran 1/8 scale only this weekend. I was able to qualify 2nd and take the win in the finals against Paolo which is always fast, especially at the Homestead track from the 2011 Worlds.

Amazing are the Sedan motors even more so. Rino has TQ'd every qualifier since running the XRD motors at the state races in homestead. For the last 2 races he has taken every round of qualifiers. He and Junior Castellanos are running the motors at the state races and have the fastest speeds compared to every motor company there. Rino has a top speed this last weekend of 68 MPH I think and Junior has the fastest of 70 MPH which many people are still talking about. These are both the Hard tuned versions. Yes I said 70 MPH for a sedan!!!!

We will be running the Winternats as well, so we will also get a chance to see the motors perform against some of the best in the world. I will be running Sedan at this event.

Basically, those are same, LM production. Same bearing size and crank size.

I saw the user manual of IDM engine last night,
- 1 tank for idle
- 0.5L 16% for mid-range cursing on the track, avoid WOT, max 80% throttle
- 0.5L~1L 16% for leaning up gradually on the track until 90% ready lose LSN if starve for fuel
- Final adjustment to race ready

Same as other engine.

Just bought the 21 HT, really nice engine, well polishing and can see the tuning effort.
Like:
- longer crank timing
- balance and polish crank
- wider exhaust port on sleeve and crankcase
- think dark coating on piston

P.S. Here to attached the break-in procedure from IDM LM base engine for reference

Anyone can suggest if the .12 needs to put an extra .1 shim if it is running 25% fuel

With the testing we have done, you need to add a .1 shim to run 25%. It gives good power but can be sensitive to tune. Your temps will be lower than you are used to also. If you add .15, it will be safer and easier to tune and temps will be about the same as when you ran your 16%.

thanks dj! the reason i asked was, i was helping a sponsored xrd driver to tune the engine. his glow plug was not lit after the engine stopped. he changed twice.
i eventually asked him to shim .1. it was then running ok. before that, he said he tried to put a solder iron, it was measured .4.
one more question, what is the suggested best temperature running this engine?
please kindly advise!
