OS engines ?
 

I am getting ready to rebuild my CV Hyper as a back up motor in my XXX-NT. I pulled it apart last night but can't remember where the hole in the side of the piston goes. Does it go on the exhaust side? or on the closed off side?

Also I am currently using a OS TR 12, it seems to run well, but after only a few runs the plug goes bad, I have been running #8s in everything, but they keep burning up. I tried an A5 that came with the motor and it seemed to work fine. Is my tuning off or is it possible I just need to use an A5 plug.

My #8s still light up all except the top coil which is a greyish color, but when using these plugs as soon as I pull the igniter off the engine dies at idle.

Sorry if these questions sound dumb, I've been racing for 15 years but this is my first gas experience, I've been holding out, but since electric offroad is kinda dead in my area I figured I'd give nitro a shot.

Come on somebody has got to know? I got my plug situation remedied, but I still need to know which side the hole belongs on?

Well it sounds like your high speed needle is to lean! and the glow plug must be red all the way! I use mc59,A5,or fox std. most of the time i buy the fox because there cheap the A5 does run longer i just don't like to spend 5 bucks for a glow plug :cry:

The exploded view from os engines looks to be away from the exhaust look for a small port to match up with the port i hope this helps! heres the link

I did figure out why it seemed like i was going through plugs so quick. In my haste I put a new plug in and left the old washer in the head so I had two washers on.... Dumb me. Took it to the track yesterday to tune it in.

Outside temps were in the mid 80s, and after two consecutive tanks the temperature was at 245. I assume that is ok? My old hyper never got hotter than 215, but I've been told that engine runs cold. I had the engine cranked out and it was screaming, but the temps were around 260, I backed it off a bit still have plenty of power and run 245. Is this probably where I should leave it?

You've already figured it out, but normally the piston on the exhaust port should always be closed......
