Bent exhaust stinger
 

Hi there, i'd just like to know if there is a way of bending back a bent exhaust stinger? I have an old exhaust that's still good but the stinger is bent and I don't want to try and bend it back if its just going to break. :confused:

Slowly. It can be done, just take your time. Use a box wrench that fits over the stinger as a lever to pull the stinger out. By going slow you can check the joint for stress cracks. The joint really isn't super strong, it can only be bent so many times before it starts to give out. But why not try it? It's just sitting in your parts bin anyways. You can always reinforce the joint with AlumiWeld if it does start to crack. Do a search on YouTube for AlumiWeld for some demos on how to weld aluminum with just a propane torch.

I've repaired several pipes this way that were otherwise headed for the scrap pile. Good luck.

To add to what SteveK said, make sure the pipe is hot when you try to bend it back, if not it will probably just break. Run a tank of gas on the track and as soon as you turn off the engine, try it.
