Default Clutch Shims Question

Gurus have a question for you... running an Edam Spirit with OS Tg in it. Twice now the clutch shims on the thrust bearing retainer have destroyed themselves leaving just metal filings increasing the gap.

Any thoughts, brother had same issue with the Edam clutch before changing to Capricorn clutch.

Thanks in advance
Andrew

On which side do you have the shims, between the clutchbell and the thrust bearing or on the other side of the thrustbearing?

Also, do you have no or a lot of endplay?

The shims must be between the thrust bearing and the end stopper. I've tried it also on the wrong place with the same results.

0.5mm free play is a lot. It should be more like 0.1mm-0.2mm.
