os .18 tz
Sunday I had a chance to see this engine for the first time. From what I am told, the engine was just broken last week. It was pretty much tight form what I could see. My tc3 went down,(damn 1-way) but I was able to use his fw-05rr with a rody .15 in it. He used his g4 with the os.18 tz in it. Let me start by saying his rody was always real fast and he could never control it well. We ran on an 1/8 size track. We would punch at the same time, and WOW the OS did seem to have more topend and was at least as fast bottom to mid range. For under $200, I think I found an answer for the 1/8s that I love to play with. Hell, I know its not legal and oh I love my ps12, but when playing with the 1/8s, this could be the ticket. The only thing is, I am not sure on the gearing of the 2 cars, but I an sure he had them both beared up.

I think if you can get enough guys to buy this engine you can create a new class of racing(Super Outlaw).:D

Was the .15 a small or big block?
|
I assume the .15 was a small block, didn't really check. I will find but it may be on the weekend if the weather is ok. If not next week.
|
I would say that Rody 15 should be a small block. Now a day, the big blcok 15 is allmost OVER.....the old big block (even EVO4 MS by Nova Mega or Rody X15) are no match with now a day small block 15 like Max 15 or JP Mod Rossi 15.............
Yes, for under $200, the 18TZ is definitely FUN and worth to play around........but keep in mind, my 18TZ only lasted my 4 minutes, and you will have to find a whole new setup to beef up the rear traction of your ride with the TZ due to monster low/mid range speed........ My ntc3 cannot handle 18TZ nicely.........barely controlllable at the infields. |
what happened that your 18TZ only lasted 4 minutes?

It is still too cold outside to do more testing........but my only option is leaning the high end a little bit more to gain milage, but then, i have to keep an eye on the temperature. Bigger engines use more fuel, that is a common law............ 75cc tank designed for 2.1cc small block 12 engines. 18TZ is close to 3.0cc..........that explain the 4 minutes run time. |
LOL i thought you meant it LASTED 4 minutes, not as in runtime...nevermind.

I also might try a 1/8 scale fuel filter this will hold extra fuel in the line. Also add more fuel tubbing.

Speed is definitely not a problem at all, run time is the problem....and now, all I can do is wait until MAY and get back to TINLEY PARK for some fun tunning.... P.S...no matter how I tune it or set it, it is a fun engine to run around, never will be legal for any racing. |

Will this engine work perfectly for a 235mm onroad car?
|
Originally posted by Rookie Solara Yeah, I totally agreed what you said, and I do have everything you mentioned, my NTC3 was illegal at the beginning (78cc I think), then I have the Inferno fuel filter bottle, 2" long fuel line.....still, I can only do around 4 minutes +/- at a 300 x 350 track over in Hong Kong, racing against 1/8th like 950R and Evolva... Speed is definitely not a problem at all, run time is the problem....and now, all I can do is wait until MAY and get back to TINLEY PARK for some fun tunning.... the NTC3 comes with a fuel tank insert for ROAR legal tank capacity:)
