Yes the roto start will work on your savage but you will have to do some dremel work on your rear bulkhead brace to get the wand into the motor.

there are pics of what needs done in this thread on savage central. you may have to register to view it. lots of good info on there as well about the .28

Thanks for the info. I'll look thru the thread and see if I can find pics of the modification. While I like the power the Picco .26 puts out, I hate it's refusal to stay tuned and it's inability to reliably start.

Hi all ...

Any experience with the .28 being installed on a Tamiya TNX Pro !? ... or the .28 engine its just too much for it and i have to go for the .21 ?

thanks,

Pat

the .28 should fit anywhere a bigblock.21 fits the length and width is the same Sorry I cant say wether the drivetrain will handle it or not.

 hi. is there a sts.28 in non pull start version? :tire:

ryan6682 12-04-2005 07:41 AM

you can get a backplate for the .28 motor to make it non pullstart.

I know that two of our customers are using the .28 in the jammin truggy and are very happy with performance. I dont know all the details except that they have told me they really like the motor.

hey savage users with sts:
I just ordered a sts 28 and i was wondering if you are braking parts like crazy?
stripping gears? diff cases? spider gears?etc.
my savage is set up with the 4 spider gear mod, but don't know what else to watch for? tranny? shafts?
thanks.

Edgar Millenium 01-25-2006 06:43 PM
