The reading was probably in KPH - mystery solved!!
But seriously, the local police kindly checked the speed of my ported NS S - 25 powered Savage the other day. Imagine my delight when he told me that the gun had registered 61mph........  :D When I get the STS, I reckon it will be more like 70mph, perhaps even 80 mph if the wind is blowing right....... Joking aside, I reckon (with very few exceptions) the only time anyone's MT breaks the 50mph barrier is when it's in the boot (trunk) of the fullsize car traveling to the track!! In which case, mine has probably broken the 100mph barrier on occasion!;) Let's not forget this is Dino's thread for the STS .28, it's a cracking little engine no matter what MT you bolt it into. Save the bragging rights for victories on the track. |

STS 0.28 Engine
what is the hp of this beast????:flaming: :tire: :flaming: :sneaky:
|
claimed to be 3.6HP... but let dino.tw tell you :)
Spec: Type: Rear Exhaust Pull Start Engine Cylinder Contents: 4.66cc Bore/Stroke: 18.80 / 16.80 Carburetor: 2 Needles Slide 8mm Crankshaft: 14mm SG type Piston/Sleeve: ABC Type 3 ports Weight: 412g |
My pullstart hand is all blistered, and wounded..... but i dont care..... in fact i'm not even looking forward to the backplate....
Im not used to the pullstart hehehe. Everyone was impressed with the engine on the track..... now, all i have to modify is the driving haha!!! Cant wait for my 3speed to arrive! |
pk...im glad u like it...
the pullstart thing...oh well...blisters do come in this business. I infact already swapping my roto start with pull start...just for the heck of it. it easy to start with my old HPI NS5...just make sure the one way is not spoilt by the exhaust fuel. whats yer gearing..u use 49 or 47 spur? |

I use 18/49 gearing. So far, ive only gone 6 tanks with it so it's still pretty much on the rich side. |
it's one hell of a engine,..... power power...
|
Seriously, I hope the backplate Dino and the STS guys are coming up with fit the Sav..... :D
|
as mentioned B4, should be around May
with 49/18...doesnt the engine mount hit the side plate...the button head nut is hitting the side plate on mine. so i use 47 spur. i havent got the .28 yet...but its coming. im gonna use it againts our SH .278 here. :D :D |
49/18 fits just fine.
yup, i know its coming in may, but im not sure if it we will able to access it using the shaft start since the hole is in the side, not in the corner (as in the stock roto backplate) |
I'd imagine with the STS, investing in the 47tooth spur might be a good idea! I know guys who run 19/47 with lesser engines than the STS, so I'm assuming the sky is the limit as far as gearing is concerned. Taller gears may make it slightly easier to drive, too.
Can't wait til I get mine! How are you getting on with yours JFC? |
so... patiently waiting for rotor start.... no more blisters.... :ha:
