Hi,

I think I will go with the 710 RTR. Thanks for you help and so on, but I just want to know why quietstorm changes his engine after every 7-10 gallons? Is it because you have the cash or there is a logical reason for this?

I'm moving to Austria next year so the first thing I'll do is go to the track and ask for cheap shops or maybe used cars, then buy one and get used to it as I'm new to this side of R/C. Then, maybe when I get serious, upgrade the engine and so on.

Buy the 7 gallon mark my engines usually start to lose power. Don't get me wrong, they still run just fine but I can feel the lose in power. I don't usually replace the p/s but thats just me. I buy a new engine but I don't $600.00 engines though so I can afford to buy a new one when one wears out.

Default mega ds2+ (3.5cc)

Hi,

What is the best way to run in this engine ? Always ran nova rossi, but did get a zx 12 for tenths and ran it in WOT and blew up in first meeting !!! Hence asking what method suited for this engine as i am planning to race this weekend and not end up with another ZX mantlepiece !!!!

Thanks

I heat cycle all of my Picco based engines. tape the head to hold in the heat and get it up to 200-210 deg while still at a very rich setting. I drive it around like that for about 3 or 4 tanks, take off the tape and I start leaning 1hour every half tank after that.

Default mega ds 2+

Hi,

Ran in the engine and raced it last sunday.....very powerful engine but not good with the 2018 pipe as it lacked bottom....changed to the 2052 pipe and poooooweeeer ! Normally hit 13.42sec lap in National with 35 plus 21l when traction is high, but recorded a 13.40sec at club meeting last sunday !!!lap record is 12.36 by mark green !!!

Woz checking engine and found that the flywheel is rocking backward and forward at TDC....not good..going to change rod/wrist pin b4 next meeting.
Does anyone come to tha same conclusion with the conrod ?

I did notice it after my breakin on a DSII .21. I ran it anyway just to test durability and it lasted for 2.5 gallons. It didn't blow, I just changed the rod and got another 2.5 gallons. I made it through 8 gallons before it started to lose power.

Go to the end of page 33 and also on page 34 of this thread, there is some discussion about "default" settings....

Default run time with 2018

Hi,

Ran of fuel b4 5 min with 2018 pipe several times, thought bottom end was slow, hence changed to 2052 pipe and this woke the engine up.Thought it would not last 5 min, but there was enough fuel for maybe 3 or 4 laps. Anyone out there found a better pipe/manifold combo for bottom mid range?

Try the 2013 pipe and the original conical manifold that comes as a set, it will give you good runtime and great bottom to mid as well as top, and if you want bottom to mid, try the 2015 with a medium conical header, both above mentioned pipe works great for both Picco based and Nova Rossi based engines.

Another good pipe and manifold combo that works well is the 2033 pipe from Mega,IDM,Picco and the medium conical header from Novarossi. You will like it as it feels real good with the top end and also gives the bottom a bit more snap as well.

Hi,

Used the medium conical manifold, will borrow a ninja one piece pipe to try and also going to try a picco torque carb
