No, the Mega MF 12 comes with a CNC machined piston and a ceramic rear bearing, while the MAX SL3 comes with a micro casted piston and standard rear bearings.

The MEga MF also uses the oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooolder carb from NovaMega..........

and the ceramic bearing has 11 spheres while the current 11,5mm bearings that are being used in the latest Novarossi engines are 9 sphere and they're light gray coloured, very different from the dark colored ceramic bearing we're used to see.........

Thanks guys. What about performace? They are both supposed to hand tuned by Mr. MF. Also what is considered the better piston, microcast or (BAR) machined?

Jag, I believe the P/S height is also different. As for performance, I have not seen CNC piston on MF.12 (ceramic or not) runs any slower than microcasted Max SL lines. I like to say the Masmo are faster, but that`s a bit bias.

Furthermore, CNC piston has more advantage on overheating. I mean, when overheating symptom started to occur (and still being run for a while), just rich it back and nothing happened to the piston.

I always thought that a CNC piston was better than microcast... do you agree? Machined anything is usually better than cast in my opinion.

Would the Max PL3 be a closer match to the MF? They don't look the same but the specs are similar. The SL and MF look like the Plus12 line where as the PL looks like the LL line. I don't get it.

Hi Jag, I think even microcast, they still need CNC touch for finishing. Not sure about PL line

Where have you seen this engine??? are you sure it is a MEGA?? because I know there is a PICCO P1R Evo2 Edo Tuned, and a just released Evo3 Edo Tuned, and there is a soon to be released MEGA ZX12 DSII Plus, which will be quite similar to the EVO3.

I have both, the JLR Red Dot and the Picco P1R Evo2 Edo Tuned and both are ballistic.

The Picco Evo 3 should be identical to the JLR. It's got the "full turbo" crank now since we have the IFMAR engine rules in Europe now.

EVO 2 was Efra legal.

Hi Stefan

No, the JLR doesn't have the full turbo crank yet. It has the straight 7.00mm bore and non protruding turbo scoop (old EFRA rules).

The Picco Evo2 Edo Tuned has the 9.00 to 7.00 mm bore crank and still a non protruding scoop.

The Picco Evo3 will have a 7.5 or 8.00mm straight bore (to be confirmed) and the full protruding scoop. Rest of engine as the JRL or Picco Evo2.

Not sure if this has been asked before but I'm hoping someone could answer the question in this thread.

Will the following ZX21 DSII parts fit the original ZX21 Race:

ABC Set 202174 (piston/liner/turbo head)
202170 Conrod
202168 Wrist Pin
202169 Wrist Pin Clips

I still have the first ZX21 and would like to rebuild it. I was sold the wrong piston/sleeve (DSII instead of the ZX21 RACE part 202002) and found out that the hole for the wrist pin is smaller than the original.

Thanks.
