Have I just ruined my new con rod?

Hi?

I just installed a new con rod in my OS .12 (first time). I got paranoid that one of the 'fingers' on the pin holding the clip holding the pin in the piston my have been protruding so i decided to take the engine apart again and check...it was ok. Anyway, I put the engine back together and the con rod took a bit of force to slip back over the pin on the crank so i gave it a swift tap with handle of a pair of pliers and it slipped back on.

I noticed that doing this shaved a small about of brass from the lower rod bushing, which i quickly removed. It seems as though there is now a little bit of play in the lower bushing (more than when i installed the new rod the first time but less than in the old one i replaced). Have I just ruined the new con rod? or is a small amount of play here ok?

rod should never be that tight going on the pin. remember the pin has to rotate inside the rod hole. make sure the rod is not upside-down

New conrod for sure. No sense in using the damaged one and destroying your whole engine.
