Differences of runnin 16% vs 25% nitro
Hi i have a jp eagle 9 .21, and i am running the 16 9% oil, and it absolutely SCREAMS, whats the advantage of running 16 over the 25, im sure the 25 makes more power, but dam it if i need it, is it more beneficial to run the 16, will i get longer engine life, more runtime etc, thanks, just curious as alot of people ar doing this on road and i wanted to hear from people who have done this, it was recommended to me to try by a extremely knowledgeable guy that i trust and so far so good, thankyou...
also with my jp eagle 9rs, how much of head shim should i remove after break in, which would be now, if i continue to run 16% |
One of the benefits is more runtime.
|
are you familiar with the jp eagle 9 .21, if so, wich shim should i remove when running the 16%
|
With 16% you can remove an 0.1mm shim.
Yes, most engines run quite well on 16%, in the past with an 5 minute qualify people were using 20% to get 5 minutes, mostly they mixed 16 and 25% to one fuel. I have runned a clubrace on 16%, it differs 0.1 up to 0.2 seconds a lap but for most drivers that is almost no loss. It saves money, it makes more runtime on a tank but do not imagine the lifespan will be better, as you said the engine still screams and that is taking lifespan. |
with the 25 leave the stock shims the way they are, but how much runtime can be had, say 40 seconds more than running 25 or less?

That I can not tell, I was running a compleete different brand fuel. Normally I do run about 4:45 on a tank and with 16% 5 minutes should be no problem.

Nitro has a cooling working but probably you will not notice a thing, maybe a few degrees higher temp but nothing to worry about.

roe, where u ever able to get a idea just how much runtime was gained?

I usually get about 30-45 seconds more runtime going to 16 from 25. There is a noticeable difference in power using 16. Depending how fast your pit stop is will determine if it is worth the time lost. A lot of the fast guys can't make runtime using 16 without leaning the engine near the point of damage. At most of the races I attend I am about 7-8 seconds faster in 5 minutes using 25 over 16. A good pit stop is about 5-6 seconds more than the average laptime. I can run the engine richer with 25, and make more power than running lean with 16. This helps engine life.

pretty much all the fuel guns drip. My RB one is pretty darn good though. :D
|
The Losi gun works quite well, I do love my orange RB, it is the fastest of them all.
If you get one be sure the tip of the gun stays on the edge of the tank, guns like the Exeed must be putted into the tank and takes volume away for the fuel, you can see the tank will not be filled to the top. |
the rb is plastic or aluminum?
