I would say that at some point in the life of this motor it has dropped a conrod bushing or small skirt off the piston, but just a guess.

Hi

The marks on top of the piston could be caused by the head clearance being to low.

most likely the chips are from detonation.
this happens mostly when the combustion chamber clearance is not correct. It's actually firing the fuel to early or to late. (pre ignition timing).
Set head clearance according to fuel % and altitude. I'ts hard to get part of a piston skirt or conrod on top of a piston, not impossible, but........????
Got a pic??

Default chips

They are some massive detonation chips.

There was definitely some metal peices bouncing around in there at some point

I shouldn't think you would see it.
Just check all parts for fractures ie piston skirt, and wear on the conrod bearings.

i'm just making assumptions here...could be wrong though...

the important thing is the tightness and no scratches whatsoever beetween the sleeve and the piston....so the top of the piston won't actually do any harm....just need to be clean only...

so...how...???
