RS vs NS

What are the differences (mechanical and performance wise) between the RS 12 S3 and the NS 12 S3? I understand the Mugen X 12 (the engine I really want) runs as well or better than the NS but I have been offered an RS for a good price and don't know if I should get it.

Thanks

The RS has a smaller Crank.....

I have a Rs12 S3 Jp and a Ns12 S5 jp...... and i still like the Rs12 S3 better. I hate the NS. Heaps of people at my Local have been having problems with them.

I like the RS12.

But the NS12 is faster.

My 2cents:lol: :)

The RS is the prior generaton of Nova motors and the NS is the newer generation.. Like Thunder racer said, the NS line of motors... ie.. RBv12, Top TS3, Nova NS3, Rex RS3 ect. will be much faster then the RS line, but won't last as long... The cranks are larger, but lighter in the NS line as compared to the RS line... A 3 port NS3 is as fast or faster then a 5 port Nova RS motor...

What kinds of problems were you having? I loved my NS5. It was fast and it made 5 1/2 minutes.

Ive only had it for 4 mounths and it has been Pinched.

Also for a $680aus dollor engine. Its not that fast. Some 3 ports could keep with it.

My NS12 gave me no problems at all.

BTW: The Mugen X-12 and the NS 12 are the same engine. Different head button and cylinder head (mugen is bigger head and standard button... NS is smaller head, turbo button).

Same piston/sleeve/ rod etc.

So is the RS the same engine as the NovaMega SX 12 that I have in the car now? It's a good engine but would I be better off just spending another $200 and getting a new X12 or an RR L3?

Go with The RS 12 S3, especially if You can find The Mugen version MR 12 3Port, it the same as RS Line Engine but has short Conrod. with a little modifications on sleeve it can hang Up with Newer Nova based engine even JP FX3 or Novamax....
