The NSR is not an AAC. The X-12 is a nova NS12S3 with a mugen stamp on it. If you don't believe me, then buy both of them (the x-12 is a non MCP) and compare the part numbers in the owners manual. I own both engines. They are the same..... X-12 is an NS12S3 with a taller head that is anodized grey. The only other difference is the x-12 has a standard head button, and the nova's have a turbo button. The NSR is the MCP version of these engines.
Same con-rod, same piston/sleeve. BTW: They both rip... |

sorry guys, i was wrong, this was purely a case of blind leading the blind.

no harm done. just thought novarossi is coming out a new version of NSR.

im finally getting a motor with some decent power(ns3) compared to my omega/picco xt12) but i first have to figure out how to fix the stripped head screw. but i watched an x12 with the same gearing, same car(mtx-3) pull the ns3 down the straight with authority. if they are the same motor, the timing and some other things are definatly different. the fuel was the same(sidewinder 30%) and the x12 was possibly tuned a little better, but not that much. damn, what an engine.

they are the same. The parts breakdown on the X-12 sheet (the one that comes with the Mugen) has a small section called technical data. This section gives horsepower, rpm, ports, bore,etc..... The two engines listed are NS12S3 and NS12S5. The parts breakdown (exploded drawing of the engine) shows a part number for a 5 port p/s. To the best of my knowledge there isn't a 5 port Mugen. It is the same engine. If you think it runs better, then get a Mugen.
Off the mugen sheet: Part # NOV08606 piston and sleeve NOV07601 conrod NOV15616 11.5mm crankshaft Off the Novarossi sheet Part# 08606 piston and sleeve 07601 conrod 15616 11.5mm crankshaft |
are the x12's modded in any way?
it was probably just better tuning then. dont get me wrong, the ns3 is a damn good engine also. its nice to be on a site that you can at least say "damn" without getting censored. |
scott,
i am sure you are going to be at the paris memorial race. what do they use on the track? vht? also, are all the whore stories about the guy that can stand the most dust in his eyes wins stories true? |

The 710 is a light car. Unless your tracks are very small I would use the x-12 or the NSR.
|
Let me answer some of the questions for Scott.I dont know if hes in the Paris race or not,but I would assume so.
Scott ran a NTC3 with a NSR12S3 and he is/was the fastest guy at our track. He switched to a MTX-3 Prospec with a Mugen X-12.WWWAAAAYYY fast. After seeing him run both cars I think he was faster with the NTC3(Scott will probably disagree).Motor wise I also think that the both motor are pretty much equal, but the X-12 just does seem to have a little more. As far as dust in your eyes thats almost never a problem. The track is in a grass park. However the offroad track is right next to it.So dust is possible.Go to Home Depot or Lowes and buy some construction googles. These will help you alot if needed.Hope this helps. David Oh yeah!!The track traction is awesome.Sugar water and VHT.Bring your 40 and 42's.BTW I race at this track twice a month,so Im very familial with it also. |
Everything David says is a fact... I am waaaay fast. LOL.>>
What he says about the dust and track prep is correct. Dust is a problem on our offroad track, but this track I have never found it to be an issue, and in October it should be even less windy than now. A few minor corrections to what he said. My nova engine is an NS12S3 not the R version. My first runs with my Mugen were definitely slower than My AE. Last week, I equalled my best AE quali run with my Mugen and went 2 laps more in the main with the Mugen. The X-12 is quite fast, but I don't know if it is any faster than my NS when my NS had good compression. I just put a MCP piston/sleeve in my NS (so I guess it is an R version now) and will try it soon. |
the engien is goin ont his car what starter box will def work and be stogn enogu for the x12 with 2 7.2 volt battieris ful charger? id otn wanan go to high so if i can get a cheaper box ill buy it. but one that will last
