Need opinion from engine experts

I plan on breaking in some engines but all i have is maxy 40 percent fuel, people say lower nitro content for break in, but does it really matter ?

Generally I like to break in an engine with the same fuel that is going to be run thru the life of the engine. Same brand, same nitro content. Just be sure not to overheat the engine and not overrev engine with no load. Take it easy first couple of tanks thru it and let the motor heat cycle 5 or 6 times.

True, but shouldnt the oil quality and quantity be the real question here? Most people break in there motors real hot now it seems, so as long as the oil quality/quantity is sufficient , does nitro content really matter?

I dont really believe any of it matters. remember back in the day when they had a special blend for break in? I hardly think that if you run the same temps with 20% or 40% that the engine is going to know the differance. also how does it matter if you break in an engine at 180-190 degrees and run it at 260 after break in? how can it make a differance what nitro content you use? sorry if this is confusing im on an im at the same time.

That is because most mfg would like to suggest you to use high % lubricant when run-in.

For example;
20% Nitro may have 20% Nitro / 15%castor and synthetic oil / 65% methyl alcohol.
40% Nitro may have 40% Nitro / 9%castor and synthetic oil / 51% methyl alcohol.

More lubricant is good for break-in and your sleeve will not get scratches. If you want to use your 40% still ok if you add 2% castor oil.
