at one time i was look at the P9R because of price wise its close to the 7ports engine but i was told Piston sleeve don't last so they stop carrying it
|
If you are looking at a Picco then Might as well buy the Nova Rossi Kangaroo .21 Sydney World Championship engine (21SYDWC) can't go wrong with a proven engine http://kamikazercracing.com/proddeta...ANGAROO21SYDWC
|
@Sam: that is true, You can't go wrong with a Nova!
@Bobby: Ive been told the P7R is pretty much the same as other 9 porters, but only having 7 ports instead, which is good because less ports=less fuel consumption=more runtime! Along with other factors as well. |
thx guys for the replys. alot of guys run 7 port at my track because the straight isnt that long. alot of them run the IDM evo 4 and the evo 3. im just looking for an engine that would be competitive aganist them.
|
The IDM EVO4 = Picco EVO4= Serpent Mega DS4
So your answer is already given if there are IDM's on your track. Ports does not say a thing, I have outrunned a Mega DS-II with a (modded) Novarossi Basic 3-port engine. The Picco EVO4 is their top onroad engine and must be able to compete with all other top segment engines. If you want to compete with them I would not go for a Kangaroo but for an 35-plus-21 engine. |
thx roelof for the info. but i still dont get if the picco and the idm are the same then why is the idm alot more expensive. i alway tought that the picco evo 4 edo modified was the same as the Mega ds4 EM and the IDM evo 4 had been modified even more to make it much faster.
|
I ran the IDM evo3 and Picco evo3 together last year swapping between races, they are the same engine except for the picco was not modded, but the EDO Moddified should be probably the same as the IDM. As far as the engines lasting, you cannot find better materials that these engines are made from. Both engines looked and measured identical with very little wear to components. Not as fast as a Nova 35 plus, but faster than the Kangaroo, Very compeditive for the price.
|
Yes, there is a EM modified edition, I have never messured these engines so I can not tell the difference.
Do not forget that IDM and Serpent are names and an extra step in the road of distribution so that is making the price a bit higher. I have seen Picco EVO4 engines sold for just 150 euro (minimum of 10 pieces), although the price is very interesting I have always doubts with the reliabillity of the Picco engines, I have seen to much. |
I always doubted Picco engines also, always ran Nova, until we had the economy issue, thats when I bought a much cheaper Picco. I am still amazed at the quality of the materials inside a Picco. I now run the Picco evo4 buggy engine because of what I seen with the onroad engines. I am a ToolMaker and check timings and dim. of all my engines and others to compare and Mod. Everybody has opinions and that is fine, I do like the Novas and Piccos. Never seen the new OS onroad but would love to.

get a kangaroo tuned edition u cant go wrong if u know how to do a clutch u cant beat these motors. one of our team drivers broke the track record with a kangaroo and makes like 6 min runtime!!
|
never really tought about the kangaroo as i have never seen one in action before. can they perform as well as the piccos?.
|
The Kangaroo is a GREAT Engine!!! And for the price it's even better!! You can't go wrong with it. Get the tuned, it's faster than stock!
|
thx for the replys guys, pooh2 i cant seem to find a tuned version of this engine.
|
The Kangaroo modded right will run with the piccos, and should have alittle more punch out of the corner.
|
Didnt the Kangaroo win the 2010 On-Road Nationals?
|
If you can't find a Tuned version of an engine, youc ould always send it over to AB Mods or to Murnan, not only can they turn it into the tuned version but make it even BETTER than the tuned version! Booyah, +1 me ppl! :D
|
the idm motors are gaining in popularity in the uk at the moment! i ran the .12 motor last year, very very good motor, i picked a new .21 idm motor up yesterday, but 3 of my team mates finished the 8 round uk national series in the top 10 last year, pete hastings finishing 2nd, i believe the winner was running a picco mega too.
idm motors are more expensive than picco because they are based on the standard motor and modded, to what extent im not sure but i will ask the question. the idm .21 was the only motor that didnt have fuel economy problems also can wait to give it a try now |
Any one know were i can get the Mega ZX21 DS4 EM preferably in the united states?

picco evo 4
picco also makes the VOX engine that motonica has released.
very smooth very fast, and it has a billet machined piston like the flash special http://motonicaproracing.com.au/p/11...ory-tuned.html http://www.rc-mushroom.com/product_i...ducts_id=20163 http://www.rc-mushroom.com/product_i...ducts_id=21622 now isnt that a bargain?? |
Picco engines are not cheaply made. They are very high quality and last.
|
Picco, Mega (Exceed) and IDM...
I have all 3 of them, EVO3 that is, not the EVO4 (yet) Picco is Picco. Mega shares the same internals as Picco, but the crankcase is different. IDM shares the same internals and crankcase as Picco, but has more work done to the crankshaft. Also piston and liner are better selected, atleast, the 2 IDM engines I have, compared to the Picco EM I also have. IDM is there only in modified version, while Picco and Mega are there also in "basic" version, the IDM should be compared to the EM versions of Picco and Mega..... P9R never meant 9 poorts, it was just a name OFNA gave the Picco P7R EVO2.... |
Will this p/s fit in the older picco p9 (p7r) ? http://www.rc-mushroom.com/product_i...ducts_id=21622 (link from previous post) !!opps!!

The Factory tuned version's of the Piccos are a better fit piston/liner.
These engines are very nice and very smooth to drive. |
This years Picco onroad engines will be named "Torque" not P7 and P1 anymore

Any idea of changes?
|
The idm versions I believe are called the 'nitro r'
Was told the only real change on the p1 motor was on the liner! |
Do you know what the changes to the liner are?
