Can New OS XZ-R .21 BE TURNED OVER BY BARE HAND???
Hey guys just got a new OS XZ-R .21 RACE ON-ROAD ENGINE. I was wondering if I should be able to turn the engine over with my bare hand/fingers? It's suppose to be a "high-compression" engine and I didn't think I could turn it over with just hand pressure. I had a JP modified Kangaroo engine which was nearly impossible to turn over by hand. Thank you for any input you might have on this matter!

Hi, had the same problem with the first engine I had, ran it for half a day and gave up with it, couldn't tune it, wouldn't run right, returned to importer who rebuilt it, new piston and liner despite a lot of arguments, have run it since and can't fault it at all.

If the engine is BRAND-SPANKIN-NEW then it will be damn near impossible to turn it over without some sort of damage done internally.
If it's pretty much fully broken in, then it should be tricky if the engine is completely out of the car, and very hard if it is installed!

you had to preheat at about 90C any brand new engine before you start to break in it.i keep doing this for 1 gallon.

You say it's brand new, NEVER seen fuel? If so, that sounds wrong.

A brand new Picco, you can turn over, with a flywheel mounted.
After it has run 2 tanks, then it is more difficult...
Picco (based) engines, don't have this very tight fit, when brand new, maybe they have smaller tolerances, so they don't need a tight fit.
So if Picco hasn't, why can't OS?

Every single brand-new engine should have a pinch so great in the beginning to ensure that it makes pretty much a perfect contact with each other so that they can form a near-perfect seal once fully broken in. That level of pinch varies from manufacturer to manufacturer, some being incredibly tight (RB for example) to being fairly tight (Picco for example) It varies, but all are hard to turn over by hand, at least when mounted on the car. If it's out and in your hand where you can use more than your fingers, it will obviously be easier, but it SHOULD still be very difficult to get it past, if not INTO TDC.
