Best Motor for $150? Why? And Where?
 

Looking for something for my new MTX-3. I am new to racing for the third time.

Driving is getting better. Need a reliable engine that won't need constant tuning and repair. I am worrying about ability now, not speed.

Most people are too concerned with HP instead of their skill. I love the quote from a day or two ago where I read that someone said there is only one perfect way around the track, most people are too concerned with a fast motor versus technique......

Reliablilty is great on my OS TR-T. The standard head version is a little less than $150 and for a little more $$ you can get the turbo version. OS is also releasing a TR R spec soon which will probably be closer to $200. Either way this engine will move pretty well and tuning and reliability have been great as usual with OS. Is it as fast as a Novarossi or Sirio? No. But it can hold it's own and it's priced in the range you mentioned:nod:

What pipe are you running on the OS?

Try the sts line of engines, great prices and quality to back it up. :nod: The d5 or the d3 should do nicely

Right now I have the OEM AE pipe that came with the NTC3 kit. I'm sure it would do ALOT better with an aftermarket pipe. I was thinking of an RD logic pipe but I'm not sure which one I'll end up getting..? Also, for more info on the OS tr series check a few threads down in the Nitro engine forums. There is a whole extensive thread on the OS tr.

I have this motor and it is really a great motor for $150 bucks. It is reliable, makes good power, and runs pretty cool. also will bolt right into the mtx3. I run it with an RD Logics Turbo II pipe and it just hums. On the tight track I run on It has no problem keeping up with the NS-3 and Sirios.

I hear a lot about the STS....Does project zen also sell a decent pipe for it or what pipe is good for the D3?

Team CRC doesn't carry these engines?....

CRC is the previous distributor. They may still have a few stock but I have no idea.

I have no bad intention! I'm used to see your signature. Everytime I saw it,I knew it's you Harry. It's really not adapted to me if you appear without signature. Just feels like you see a guy in front of you suddenly but you find him stark-naked.

I love to read the signature of everyone. If there is a link I will check it,too. Now I'm working hard on reading Frank McKinney's R/C Memoirs . It's really so funny! :lol:
