Which engine?

Looking for a new engine for club races.. not looking to spend too much.. but want something reliable, and good low/mid end.

Choices so far that fits my budget..

Novarossi 353 +2 Edition 08' with 2630 Pipe
Picco JLR Red-Dot with 2651 Pipe
Picco P1-R Evo4 with 2651 Pipe
IDM P1-R Evo3 with 'not sure' pipe
Sirio S12 XXX VK Touring w/EFRA2653 Pipe

anything else?

gfilos 05-20-2010 12:52 AM

if you want low to mid power you cant go wrong with a picco version engine.
Also i have found the relibiality of these engine awesome.
If you re interested only for club races go for the normal p1r-evo4 and not the
edo edition.

Alex Siddique 05-20-2010 04:07 AM

buy an engine with good local support .
Nova 353 or plus 12
Rb
or Sirio

Mike 78 05-20-2010 04:26 AM

RVB

Buy an RB T10rc with a ballistik mod done, i have the T9rc with the ballidtik mod done and it gets great run time and plenty of power so i would hate to see how the T10rc goes. Just pm Ballistik Mods for a price he can supply the engine with the mods done and offer a whole heap of other engine services as well at a great price.

Don't over look O.S. the xz line are great engines. Much better than the tz's. Easiest engines to tune and they hold well

i wish, i believe it will be way out of my budget... the engine itself it out of my budget.. let alone with a pipe and mod.

maybe u can donate ure T9RC, then you will have a excuse to buy a T10RC. lol

This is what you would recommend as a club engine?:D

Yep may as well run the best gear all the time, my other engine is a T9rc with an ex factory RB engine which is just as crazy as my T9rc with the Ballistik mod. :D:D:D:D

Jason:

Do the IDM Evo 4 with the 2651. (if you can afford it) Or do the Picco Evo4 with the same pipe. I would not get an Evo 3 version of a Picco sedan engine. The rod is just not that reliable. The Evo 4 rod is much better.

Yeah i was looking at the Evo.4... Seems like the cheapest aswell.

Picco Evo 4 - $200
Pipe - $85
Rod for replacing after break in - $25

Novarossi 353 08' with 2630. i can get for about the same price aswell

Serpent_Gordo 05-22-2010 10:11 AM

Picco is ok.. but it will lose power after you start running it and you over heat it about 1 or 2 times.... I would just go with a Novarossi, very strong and reliable, and this engine makes crazy power:D

Scott Fisher 05-22-2010 10:39 AM

My experience with Picco based engines are not the same as what Gordo has posted. My engines make good power and last. Any engine can overheat and that can cause damage. Right now the biggest problem with Novarossi engines is the glow plugs.

MikaR 05-23-2010 12:03 AM

Bro, you can't go wrong with this one or a similar

http://cgi.ebay.com/RB-CONCEPT-V12-R...item563c3f5e24

http://cgi.ebay.com/RB-CONCEPT-V12-R...item255a47458d

I'm out running those newer semi-priced lrp's and novarossi's easily... One of the best ever I'm sure. I have the 3 port EFRA legal but anyhow (this should be even for more power)

Read about them.. Do a search. Novarossi plugs have been failing at an alarming rate. I am even seeing some new ones that dont work right out of the package.

How old are the plugs you have?

Only bad ones I have seen are the Ultra Novarossi Plugs with the Silver body (instead of the Black ones).

I use regular Novarossi plugs, and have no problems at all!

Those are too old.

I'd prefer suggesting RB Junior Line instead of those engines.

Previous to that (last time I was running novarossi engines) it was just the opposite. The regular plugs were junk and you had to buy the Ultras.

Old yes, but it's not a bad thing! You can still get replacement parts for those. And crazy fast, excellent quality.

I was just racing a buggy from ca. 2000 (MP75) and was faster than the guys with those fancy Xray Spec '10 cars :)

What makes you think those being old is bad (they don't have an expiry date as far as I know) ?

RBT9J VS V12

The RBt9j is based on the v12

You are correct. But half the price :D

I have used both.

Regular plugs and Ultras.

Ultra plugs last a lifetime, but those with the black body and golden tip.

If your ultra plug has a silver body, then it will go bad very fast.

I am currently using the regular ones and haven't had any major issue with them.

brought a packet of 5 start of this year.. have only used 1 plug.. they are in the gold packet...

might get a nr 353 08 or 09.

Somehow I have it hard to believe that you would get something as good with half the cost. Haven't seen that happening :D

It's like the good old Nissan that's made in Turkey

Novarossi 08 353 PLUS2
OR
Novarossi 09 353

Hey Jas,

I wouldn't discount the TJ9 with a Ballistik mod done mate I know of a few guys in pull start that run these in pro tourer out our local track and they are just as quick as a standard 353 09 or R3 with a rotor start mechanism on. So without the rotorstart mechanism these little engines would absoultly scream. At the moment Sean is doing a TJ9 for my pullstart Edam and in actual fact I'm thining about getting another one of these and removing the pullstart mechanism and getting Sean @ Ballistik to mod it as a club day motor to save my other T9 motors for big events.

Also if i'm not mistaken they utilise a Rody piston and liner from stock. This is what RB had left when JPM ordered these engines and the yes the crank etc is based on the V12 even to the point it has the V12 marking all over them.

There my thoughts mate you wont be disappointed :tire::nod:

LiL_JaSoN 05-24-2010 10:34 PM

or maybe a 353 08 PLUS2 with a ballistik mod? lol

edit:.. i just have re-made up my decision.. RC T10 Junior or RC10 Competition.

because i can get it cheaper, parts are easier to get, share parts from the RC9 (conrod) and its a newer engine.

Need a new .21 engine for my 8ight t 2.0

I want to buy a new engine for my 8ight t 2.0 and I've been looking at several different name brands and h/p ratings . I like the Novarossi Nero Tero the FMS and the plus 4. On the other hand I've also been looking at the JS Racing EB fully Modified .21 and the Mike Truhe CRF.21 What do ya'll think would be the best choice. I also would like to have the engine that I would have the most availablity to parts as well as support too! Any comments!!! Trying to spend my money wisely. Thanks RC FREAK

HoboShop 05-26-2010 08:02 AM

Murnan rb m3 is hands down the fastest engine on the market in terms of bottomend, midrange, and top end. It also will make runtime with no problem I run up on 8 scale with this motor. A buggy can not keep up with a onroad car. I would like to see a 8 scale nitro buggy keep up with my nt1 ec with Murnan rb m3 or kyosho m3 evo with jp ro9 s black mod I don't see it happening.:). My rb m3 is always the fastest .12 engine on the track no matter where I go:nod:

mmario777 07-10-2010 12:24 PM

Which one of this engines/pipe combos you think is better for my Xray NT1 (club racing)

http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...ipe-Turbo-Plug

http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...662-Tuned-Pipe

http://www.rc-toro.com/product_info....oducts_id=2057

or any other engine/pipe combo in $350 range , I'm looking for best performance/durability balance

Any suggestions is greatly appreciated

el salvador 07-10-2010 07:00 PM

All 3 look pretty good, I'd choose in order of priority: #2, #1, #3.
Also the MaxPower RR3 at $270 available at Nexus or Ashford Hobbies is an excellent choice as well. :tire:

If your going to recommend engines why not give a pipe recommendation as well? Having a high quality racing engine w/o the right pipe is like running a normal race car engine on 87 octane pump gas.
