Awesome pics and awesome comparison!

Its pretty hard to imagine how a "balanced" crankshaft isnt heavier than a normal one.

I have two MAXs, one balanced and the other non-balanced, and the balanced feels so much heavier... Gotta weigh em in I guess

thanks, just try my best.

i don't have the previous balanced one, so before i got it in hand, i just think BALANCED should mainly on crankshaft, to me the extra work they did inside the body are BONUS. now i'm running in an RB T9 so have to wait a bit more.

The crankshaft in a one cylinder engine has always been a debate, myself I don't think it's possible I believe the weight is there to move the resonance frequency higher to get higher rpm's when metal inside an engine starts resonating it's hard to get past that vibration point and get speed.

Heavier/denser resonates much later = no vibration barrier to compete with.
Most high end crankshafts are lighter, but the slugs in the counter weights are denser.

But that's just an educated guess
