Shim

Hey!

I'm going to be using 20% in my reddot engine. It comes 0.60 shimmed default. should I just leave it as is and run the 20%?

You can leave it the way it is, but you will not make as much power. Supposedly the Reddot motors come pre-shimmed for 30%. So if you take a .10 shim out you will bring the compression back.

Shawn.

Is the topic about the OFNA JL red dot .12?

I have three shims on mine as well and will be running 20%.

Should I remove one shim during the break in process or after?

I broke in my own with 20% leaving the default shims on. didn't see anything wrong, you would lose compression though if you run with 20% as Shawn said.
I don't know what mm shims to use for 20% though. I've been running the engine for about 3 months now and changed the con rod a few weeks back and i'm still using 20% with the default shims.

the three shims are the ones that came with the engine.

Should I remove one now to increase compression?

yes u want the right shims no matter what there should be a .1 and a .2mm remove the .1 mm shim and u should be good although i ran my tuned on 20% and it did just fine without removing any shims i just had to lean it out a bit but better to have the right clearance
