Angry OS .12XZ Engine - Can I hear from anyone

I want to hear from owners of the OS .12XZ engine. Did I get a Bum Engine? I cannot get this to turn over unless I use a drill.

With the Head off when you turn it over at 3-4mm before top dead the cylinder lifts and you can barely push it back in.

Has anyone had this problem? If so what have you done?

They are monster tight when new. Warm it up with a heat gun (like a hair drier on steroids) and find a really strong starter box. It will be a royal pain in the ass until it breaks in, then she rocks.

Yep, not the strongest box out there. I like my Mugen one but there are some even stronger. See if you can borrow one from someone and give it a try. Or find someone with a break in bench to help you get it going.

yeah.. same goes to my XZ speed tuned. started to think, most OS have tight sleeve and crankcase fittings. even my dead TZ spec2 with no compression still giving me hard time to assemble.

maybe call the company you got the engine from and tell them of your problem. i have heard os engines were extremely hard to get to turn over when new and alot of people do the heat gun trick. and like someone else mentioned, if you are using some el cheapo starter box, that may be your problem? when you bump it, does the box bog down? or does the engine turn over? maybe try putting some after run oil in the glow plug hole and get it in there good, then try? if all fails, call the place you bought it from and tell them your story.

i used a very fine polishing compound on the inside of the liner . Made it a bit easier. i have done my tz spec 2 and 1/8th on engines like that. got over 25 ltr out of my spec 2 . but you got to know what u are doing. otherwise u can kill the liner.

The XZ is very tight when new. Heat it like the others have suggested. Also, take the plug out put a couple of drops of after run or fuel in the cylinder to help it turn over on the box until it draws enough fuel to start. Mine was super tight when I got it and even after 2.5 gallons it still sticks sometimes when it's cold. You will be very pleased with the power though once it's broken in, just have patience and it will loosen up.
