Default STS engine case replacement

Hi dino,

I've got the STS D5 and have cracked the a small piece off the case where the button sits (my fault for using shorter head screws on the exhaust side ) but the internals of my engine are still in excellent condition and i still have a spare D5R piston and sleeve to use.

Can i just order another engine case or can i use a novarossi one? I've got a spare engine block that i can use, it's a NOVAROSSI RS12TS1 engine block which has the smaller diameter crank the the new NS versions. Will i be able to use this or do i have to get a new STS engine block?

Thanks

I dont know about the P/S goin into the Nova Block.

But i do know that the STS crank has a liltle step on the back of it. were the Rear Bearing sit's. So you will need the change the bearing the make the STS crank fit. Because the nova one's are the same Diameter the whole way though and they dont step up like the sts one's do.

Hope this helps

Deano

Thanx Deano, ohhh... hmmzz i forgot about the piston and sleeve fitting properly. Guess i'll have to source an STS engine case then
Has anyone modified their engine? i've modified my previous STS by raising the exhuast port about 0.7mm and i had to take some off the exhaust port on the engine case aswell. So the sleeve and engine exhaust port have been raised. If i replace the sleeve with a factory one, will the raised exhuast port on the engine case affect it, like would the sleeve exhuast port, being stock and shorter, blow out because there is no suppor for 0.7mm of it at the top? did that make sense?

You need a new STS crankcase. You can order it from our distributor. Where are you? Australia?

Default found it =D

Hi DIno,

I went to the STS website and found the Australian Distributer and even the shop that stock STS engines and parts. Unfortunantly they don't sell the crank case though and if they did, i'm lookin' at a very high price because the STS D5 sells for $395 AUS here!!! I brought mine online for $200 AUS!

Another questions: How long would the inner crank bearing last? I'm thinking about rebuilding the engine but reusing the bearing or should i replace it? It's had about 5-6 litres through it and has hit pretty high tempretures a couple of times (130-135 degress).

Btw, i've got the new D5R sleeve and Piston and they look absolutely awesome!!! Very impressive milling. I also got the new retimed and ramped (like the jp) crank aswell! So hanging out to break it in but alas, i have no engine case. Anyone got a spare D5 engine case they wanna sell?

thanks guys
