hey, Im in the middle of running my rs3 on the track 50-80% throttle. Is it ok if i leaned out the top from 5 to 4 1/4 and the low to 3 1/4? My engine would otherwise flame out at factory settings. Thanks

Nice engine Dino, any idea on price? (ie compared to say the .12 D5) Got any stats on it? would it beat my Hyper 8 port? :)

Ok,let's compare it with D5.
Both of them are 5 port.
D5 is 2.1cc only but D21B is 3.5cc with huge torque.
D5 has 6.5mm carb. but D21B has 8mm carb(w/8mm venturi)
BUT,D21B will cheaper than D5....damn...the touring engine is really too expensive...:D

au_Nightmare 04-22-2004 05:14 PM

sounds good!!.. If you need a test dummy in Australia to test the .21 buggy my arms are open :D :D :D :D   I'll give it back, I promise....

au_Nightmare 04-22-2004 05:22 PM

hehe well I just had to ask :P

I REALLY like the sound of this engine!!! :) :)

Might be soon time to sell the Hyper 8 and upgrade.. Just need a pulll start STS to replace the novarossi then all my R/C would be running STS engines!

In fact STS and Hobao are friends. So...you know...

A pull start version will come latter. But still don't have idea if it should .25? or .26? or .27? or .28?

In the beginning, the .25 came out. Then Picco produce .26, Sirio produce .27... RB produce .28 now. Should we join the war? .29? even .30/5cc  :weird:

au_Nightmare 04-22-2004 05:54 PM

I dont know dino, the monter truck guys seem to go crazy over the bigger engines.
A few weekends ago my buggy w/hyper 8 port .21 was flogging a monster truck w/picco .26 in it :) Buggies just go better I guess :)

If you are going to produce a larger then .21 engine I guess .30 would be the go but I feel it would be limited market? or is there a lot of interest in over .21 engines? I don't know. One thing it would have to have pullstart option as a lot of monster truck guys seem to go for the larger then .21 engines, for torque and they need pullstart.

The STS engine need more time to warn up. In the first or second laps you will feel the engine is slow, after several laps the engine will stay at a balanced temp. So if you turn the carburetor, you need to run several laps to get the exact temp.

you may need to rich the low speed needle to 5 turns out and maybe there is a space that you can lean the main needle a bit.

Dino

Thanks Dino,

Does this mean it's ok for the engine to run around 140-150C in the first few laps but then it'll cool down.. Because my problem is excessive temperature even when the engine is idle or there is not much load on it..

Engine is fully run in. Removing glow plug and turning engine over by hand also feels right.

au_Nightmare 04-22-2004 08:25 PM

No, the first few laps the engine should be slugish and as if its too rich, as it heats up it becomes ALIVE...

Those temps you have a way too hot, what is performance like? I would richen needles.

Here is info from earlier messages.

20-30C max about 120C (68-86F max 248F)
10-20C max about 100C (50-68F max 212F)
0-10C max about 80C (32-50F max 176F)
BTW - I had air leaks from moving fuel inlet on carb (me naughty) Have you touched this?
