I haven't had a problem tuning mine. Like any engine run them in properly and creep up on the needles by an 8th at a time.
My motor personally doesn't like more than 120C at the head before crying out the lean ringing sound

Excuse the poor quality
For your info I wasn't happy with the shavings left all around the 3 rings on the piston, obviously someone forgot to clean it after they were cut!
This engine better be good...
How's the new MKII engine? Any updates? For us here, we have not received the engine yet to do any review. I hope you can share some insight?

I'll let you know on monday as I have only put 8 tanks through the motor atm but will have it racing for this sunday.
I will probably put 20 tanks through it first before this weekend as the pinch is the same for all sts motors (huge).

right now I would not be buying any STS engines.... with STS not having any warranty depot in Nort America, and having to spend $30.00 return shipping to Taiwan to get warranty... combined with the fact these motors are blowing cranks left right and center and have terrible quality control... I am done with STS, and i recomend anyone looking at these mills to look elsewhere....And if your motor is modded you have no warranty... there is a reason why the North American dealers are dropping this engine line..... STS has taken a big nose dive lately

Hi,
Just for my curiosity, what engine do you have and what kind of problems?

What, when, who, how, where, etc.... I follow pretty much all sts forums and there are no repeat posts of broken cranks nor any news of u.s dealers dropping the product. Where does this news come from?

See what you mean. Nothing left of sts on their site.

Well when they are running, the STS motors rip, especialy the modded ones.. But lately the cranks have been snapping in them, in all the models, either the crank snaps, or the crank pin shears off... If STS can correct this problem, then they will be an awesome motor..but right now with the frequency of crank failure, and STS's new warranty policies, it makes these engines a risky proposition....

Yes if you also notice pro-hobby.net isnt really selling STS anymore. Thats two of their "main" US distributors done.

Spewing. I have never really bought a motor for warranty purposes as there is just to many variables if it does come time for it.
O.S are the same on there TZ and Speed Tuned range and there motors are up to 3 times the price!
I have owned the D3R, 28M with no problems and the latest 21T Mk11 I have bought is the dearest of them all but lets hope it holds up to the task that my others have shown me or I will have to say good by to them also and hello good old O.S.

Its all about value for money to me not if its the biggest fastest thing on the planet

Forgot to add that I have put 15 tanks of 16% fuel with a high oil content (not sure how much oil) and 3 tanks of my race fuel which is 25% with 5% castor and 5% synthetic and will tune it on the rich side today for racing on sunday.

My starter box still has problems cranking the motor over and thats 2lt's down its guts now!

I'll check the engine bearings at the 4lt mark
