Yeah its 6.5mm carb basically helps boost the performance a little as well it has an updated crank over the d3r , with dual tear cuts in it and the black powdercoated case and crank.

The reverse though its got 2 fins less on the heatsink as well its not a modified case.

I have the 5.4mm aluminum venturi for it to bring the motor into the legal zone for ROAR/EFRA/IFMAR Specs.

Byrons 30% racing fuel, internals look great with still a tremendous amount of pinch after 10 tanks of fuel.
this is where I ended up today..
hsn - 3.5
lsn - 5.25
for here this is a rich setting.. much richer and it wont shift..

I brought the idle up and that helped with the low end problem.

the first time it happened I thought that I just hadn't gotten it tight..
but its happened three times so far, so there must be somthing to it...

engine is the sts d12x and the plug is an odonnell..

anybody have this problem?
I think its time to try a different plug....

I've ran Odonnell in a D5 and D3R no worries. I prefer the plug, seem to get past a rich condition better then nova/OS.

Hmm maybe it's me - I have actually purchased a hudy glow wrench because ive broken two "normal" glow spanners trying to undo the plug ok maybe its a little tight - but she sure don't come loose!

Im just getting into nittro and thinking of getting an STS D3R as my first engine. I like the 139.00 dollar price but I am a little worried about all the modifications that I may have to do just to be competative. This will be my first engine so do I have to do all the other stuff now to race or can I take it out of the box, put it in my G4 , break it in and race

Bill i raced from October 2004 until December 2005 with a STS .12 D3R engine without changing ANYTHING but shimming up or down due to change in countries i was living ... the D3R its a very good engine and with proper carburation and plug combination can be on par with big $$$ engines ...

BTW, i sold my onroad with the engine in December 2005 and the guy who bought it is still racing the STS
