I just raced the Nationals in Toledo, OH. My off-the-shelf OS Speed 12XZ was plenty fast. Only engines faster would probably be the hand-modified engines for factory drivers. I used the Mugen MSR .12 #P01004 pipe this with the OS manifold that comes with the 1050... 1050 pipe was illegal.

But don't take my word for how fast it was, ask others that were there.

I was there, and that COULD'NT be an off-the-shelf XZ.

How was the OS 1050 pipe illegal? I bought one for my Speed 12xz and was going to use it next year (since it is the recommended pipe by OS).

The stinger is too short for ROAR rules. It's legal for IFMAR and EFRA.

I used the Mugen MSR pipe with the OS 1050 manifold at the US nationals and it worked awesome with excellent fuel mileage.

Ok,so I am gonna go with the MSR.12#p01004 and the OS header.I looked and could not find the part number for the header alone.I did find two headers, part #osmg2608,and 2606,but it doesnt specify which one is the one that comes with the 1050.Anone know, and whats the difference between the headers?

I too could not find the 1050 part #. Use part #72106400 - OS Speed Exhaust Header Pipe Assembly. It says it's for the 1040, but it looks exactly the same as the 1050 header visually. And I used it.

You are correct sir. The header is the same for both pipes. I ran the older T1040 pipe at the nationals since I still had one. Mileage and power were very good.

Thanks for the clarification. I noticed that the stinger was a bit short as compared to the 1040 pipe. I guess I use the 1050 pipe for local racing and have to use the 1040 pipe for the sanctioned races. Thanks again for the heads up info.

The funny thing about the ROAR rule is that they measure the length of the stinger from the tip to where it meets the canister at its furthest point. IFMAR and EFRA measure the length of the stringer itself, no matter how far it sticks in or out of the canister. They measure it from inside the stringer (with something like a exhaust spring tool). ROAR needs to look into this a little further. DAWN!!!!

Agreed. Usually ROAR goes by IFMAR rules for worlds classes. I see a rule clarification in the works
