Thank you......... I modified the intake (crankshaft) a little bit; however I don't think timing would change. For my experience, change timing is not a major element to upgrade the performance. I have done a lot of other detail work in order to enhance the performance but you could not tell from the photos.

The engine would be much easier to tuning after applied Nova carb.

i have some questions for the 2008 crf.
do you have the timings for this engine?how much diameter is the hole in the crank?
in the old one was 6mm its the same and in this engine?
how much better the engine is after the mods?pros-cons?
thanks!

Does the crankshaft not have the red puddy in it? Or did you remove it?

HoboShop 01-19-2009 04:02 PM

engine timing is the most important part when it comes to engine performance

not pretty little sleeve cuts also the piston and sleeve fit is another important fact. but crank timing is the most important factor when determining engine power!!!!!!!!! the power comes from the crank :tire:

other then that nice work:)

No putty in the CRF crank. It's ramped with the metal kinda like OS .21 cranks.

Timing has been determined on the engine blue print........ therefore timing is not a major element during modification. You may have a try and would understand very well. ;)

Original crankshaft has no red silicon insert.

Since the intake is dome shape, I didn't add the silicon in neither.

does anyone have the timings for this engine?
someone must have them.
the transfer and exhaust are near the picco evo 3?

The engines made for the consumers (normal market) do not have the specs as the factory drivers have and so there is always room to change the timing. And from my experience any tiny change in the cranktiming will do more than fancy cuts and polishing.....

Timing is one of the most important if you modify an engine. but
knowing the correct way of measuring is more important:D:sneaky:
Sometime I gone very far on timming and still benefit but down side i experienced was engine tunning issue as well as clutch, tune pipe and gearing.
fancy cuts on sleeve are just fancy cuts... and polishing it......is a joke:lol:

When i modify an engine I usually change both sleeve and crank timing, the results can be quite dramatic if the changes are done correctly....
