Stuck head screws
Hi guys i need help on how to take the head off the engine.
I unscrewed 4 screws of the engine head in an X pattern but the last two screws got messed up really bad.. Now they have round heads and won't give me any grip to unscrew them, is there any trick to get the head off the engine? like some pliers or something and damn i can't find anything slim enough to go though the space between the head fins, oh :cry: please tell me what to do i want to get it fixed as soon as possible.:(:(:( Any help appreciated:D:D:D:D:D |

If i drill the heads out then how will i be able to take the rest of the body of the screw off?

Once you drill the heads of the screws off. The heatsink should come off. At this point you should have just have the studs of the screws sticking up out of the crankcase. From here you use some vicegrips to unscrew the rest of the screw out of the crankcase. If you heat the crankcase in the oven this might make it a little easier to remove the screws.

Ok i got it so if i heat them up it will be easier to take them off?

Thanks for your reply Possibly. But, if you can't get any grip you still wont be able to get them out. Try either a reverse drill bit, or like others have mention, drill the heads of the screws off. -Ant. |
I am gonna drill them out but as i see that rust has come to visit my engine
is there anything to flush it all out? i haven't run the engine for 4 years and i'm afraid that it may not be in good shape.. I've heard that putting them in antifreeze overnight gets rid of all the dirt .. but i don't know exactly how to do that Do you put the internals and the antifreeze unsolved in a bowl and leave them for 8 hours let's say? Afterwards do you clean them with 3M brake cleaner? |
This maybe all for not. If you have that much rust on the outside I hope you don't have any rust on the inside. But yes a little heat will make them easier to remove. Just don;t go overboard. you may damage the crankcase.

Actually there is no rust outside, i do see brown deposits on top of the piston and some minor wear on the skirt but there is compression in the cylinder so it's not completely wasted..
My only fault is that i didn't put any oil :rolleyes: in the engine for storage |
