How to remove connecting rod
I broke my connecting rod on my OS 12TZ and need to replace it. What is the best way to remove the connecting rod? I have the back plate and the head off but not sure how to get the pin out. Any help would be much appreciated.

Pull the sleeve out of the top of the block, and then the piston and rod. The wrist pin connecting the piston and rod is held in with circular clips. Remove one of the clips, push the wrist pin out of the piston, then install the new rod. Be sure that the oil hole in the rod and the cut portion of the piston sleeve both face the crankshaft when installed.

What is the easiest way to remove the sleeve? I am having trouble pushing it out.

put a hefty size ziptie in one of the ports when the piston is down position and your flywheel should still be on the crank and then turn it so it pushes the sleeve out. once the sleeve is out the rod will come off when its up in the case

Sometimes when connecting rods break they can damage the sleeve. This can cause the sleeve to become jammed in the case. Look up through the back plate opening and check the rim of the bottom of the sleeve. If it's not nicked or distorted you should be okay. I would using some penetrating lube on the sleeve. Spray some wd40 in through the back plate opening, and then let the motor sit upside down for afew minutes. I would heat the motor up to allow the case to expand and use a wooden dowel or other non-metal device to push up on the rim of the sleeve. I would alternate on different edges of the sleeve so that it doesn't become "cocked" in the case. The sleeve should come out.
