Im going to chime in and say no Picco plugs seems to be the only ones that seal properly

Do you run the Evo 3 and how do you find it?

Well, I'm running GRP plugs for a while now, and they work perfect!, only heard that the latest batch of plugs are not that good...
IDM engines, which are also Picco based, use IDM plugs, which are Sirio based...
So, no, not only Picco plugs will seal properly.....

We made some 8.5mm ones and they have seemed to work very well a little more then the 8 with the saving for fuel mileage.

Ran this engine forthe first time on the weekend, and was very impressed with the bottom and mid range that this engine has, its very fast through the infield sections of our track thats for sure. It does seem to lack a little in top end goes, a little more than what i thought it was going to lack anyway. I am not sure though it that is cause i was running the 8mm restrictor, the gearing was a little tall for it in 2nd or the engine is still a little tight. What restrictor and gearing to most guys use, compared to what say a nova engine would use?

The other thing is how good is the fuel economy?

The EDO version?
I think it's still a little tight, wait until you've run a gallon throught the engine.
110 kmh, is what I see them running...

My IDM yesterday reached 109.4....

Yes the EDO version. It is still tight yes, even when its hot it still pinches twice. I have also realised that i was not getting full throttle, its not much less but still its not full throttle.

What pipe are you using M7H?

Watch out with these carbs. DON'T set up the servo to fully open the carb until it locks, this will damage the carb, and might (will) end in a full throttle crash someday...
Also this will disturb the airflow in the carb.
Set it up until the slide is 100% open and not 110%...

I ran the 2052 pipe.
If you really are looking for topspeed, use the Novarossi medium header (6-fins) and the PICCO branded 2033 pipe....

1 additional remark for your engine still being maybe to tight.
Run it rich for an additional 2-3 tanks, getting the temps under 80C again, to get some pinch out of the engine.
If you don't it will take another gallon to get the pinch out, and you can not really enjoy the engine...

Yeah i never setup that carby until it locks up.

Not really after massive top speed just a little more would be good.

Ok cool i will try that for another couple of tanks....the temp never got over 109 deg all day.

Is there much difference between the IDM and EDO versions?

Yes there is a difference there is not work done to the timing as well as some differences in the sleeve. small in the sleeve. Big on the crank. Also do not break the engine in at 109 degree's you will wear it out before you have time to run it. Always run the engine even when breaking in at 185 or so. No less for long periods as the piston and sleeve do not expand correct and wear out. Also the IDM pipe is the same as the Picco. Just for information.
