Default engine stalls when off throttle.

hi guys,
what're the usual suspects if yr engine stalls when off throttle after a long straight?

idle is pretty high already...

Your low speed needle is lean...... perhaps rich it by 1 full turn

Your high speed needle is slightly too lean ...... perhaps rich it by 2 hours

And let see what happen after the adjustment.

If that still fail, replace the fuel line and keep it short as possible, and replace the glow plug.

hmm..., lean?
there's plenty of smoke and temp is about 100degC only...and glow plug is new...

btw, it happens only when car on track; it's fine when in the pits.

can you roll the car freely ? spin the clutch freely ?
also helped out a guy in South Australia not long ago, with the same sort of problem. his trim adjustment wasnt set right. what would happen is that when he hit the brakes after the straight, the carb would actually close properly and stall the car. had plenty of power everywhere and tuned ok, but would just stall.

yup, linkages/trims checked and found ok...
initially i also suspected clutch binding but had re-done the clutch a couple of times but still same...

maybe should set the clutch endplay more? now it's slightly less than 0.1mm, if i take out another 0.1mm shims, it'll be 0.15mm of endplay at least...

Default carb

It could be lean on high speed. I would take the airfilter off and see how far open the carb is at idle. If it's closed too far you will have a hard time tuning it.

My suggestion: set your needles to factory and work from there. Check your tank for any leaks, replace your fuel line. Your glow plug may be new but something might have gone wrong, change it, eliminate another possibility .

Default plug makes the differences...

update:

if i use nosram plug, everything's fine but if i use idm plug, the problem came back!

it's not that i cant use nosram plugs but they dont lasts. just after a few tanks, the plug wire would become distorted and dead. (it's not lean at all as smoke is visible and temp is about 110-120degC).

however, if i use idm plug, the plug wire would be ok and the plug could last for a few race days...

what's the issue here? am i stuck with a plug that i've to replace every few tanks?

p.s. anyone knows whether idm#6 is similar to nosram #6 or #7?
