Mugen Ninja .12 Glowplug

Many people have told me that the Mugen Ninja .12 T01A can use only ninja glowplugs which are hard for me to find localy. Is there a different glow plug that can be used with this motor(like the Novarossi plugs)? People have told me that when they use different glow plugs, it causes leaks at the button. Can i change the button to use nova plugs? Will this change the performance? THANKS!

I can tell you that the Ninja glowplug is a wider taper than the Novarossi, and it will leave a small gap between the button and glowplug if you use the Nova plugs. I can only say to remove the button and try an O.S. turbo plug or O'Donnells and see if it is the correct size, since I know that the O.S. is a large taper glowplug. This is one of downsides of the Ninja engines, is you're stuck with their glowplugs and they are not cheap buying them in a single pack either.

What O.S. plug did you use? Was is just performance or the size of the taper causing your issue?

Will it affect the performance of the engine if i put a different button on. It doesnt look like it will cause much of a difference. Has anyone tried it?

I don't know if they make a standard head button for that engine or another brand that has the correct bore and deck height insert. If so, you have to shim it correctly.

Ninja engines will accept Ninja, Sirio, and Picco plugs. O.S. plugs do not have the same taper.

sorry to bump a old thread up,

asking for a mate who also runs a ninja but having problems finding glowplugs?

what glowplug is ran on the ninja? (5 or 6?) 5 = hot, 6 = medium. i can find the ninja 6 plugs.. but cannot find the 5.

will be running the 6 be ok with 16% nitro?

a 6 will be fine. A lot of people use the 6 plugs rather than the 5.
